as the bullet hits the plywood, it starts expanding. the next layer of steel stops all but the fastest, heaviest bullets. I have yet to have anything come out of the backside of the telephone poles. And I hand load some hot, fast rounds.

Hell with reloading supplies non-existent, he shouldn't be worried. If you shoot that much that he's "threatened" you'll be out of rounds, powder, and primers soon enough. Tell him his vote for Biden should make him feel secure in his own little world.

The idea of a pie pan flapping in the breeze also would make his camera take lots of pictures and fill up an SD card.

A pie pan was my first idea, but I couldn't find one.
And I don't shoot all that often- maybe a day or two a week, and even then it's only 10-20 rounds. It's not like I'm shooting cases of 5.56 through my AR. Hell, I don't even own an AR. And to top it off, this guy lives in DFW, and just comes down on the occasional weekend to shoot his AR's. Guess it makes him feel manly.....

Start shooting naked. It’s a heavily tree’d area.

Why not just just move your backstop and shoot towards(inward) the center of your property

out of curiosity who owned which property first?

not that it makes a difference with you aiming at something 10 yards from his property line towards his property all the time.

That thin layer of "steel" is about as effective as a tin bucket.
Unless you have a double layer of telephone poles staggered to cover the gaps then it is my opinion that you have a totally inadequate and unsafe "backstop".

Yeah that was my question too. Why not just shot the other way? If you are wrong, miss etc and hit a house or something in his property they are going to arrest you. He is documenting this for a reason.

He is going to file a complaint and attach to the pics your backstop and an affidavit from the best known local range guy or expert saying your backstop sucks.

You need an build an earthen damn around your logs, etc. at least it just move it and shot the other way.

Nothing worse than neighbor beefs. They never end well for anyone

Hang something that blows in the wind and triggers his camera all day and all night, every day. He will get loads of pictures of absolutely nothing.

This is my thought as well. I completely understand your neighbor's concern and I think it's valid. Move your backstop to where you're normally shooting from and shoot from where your backstop is currently.

Your neighbor's concern and his request is justified, in my opinion and I'd probably make a similar request if I was in the situation. I'd also like to have a trust fund.

Even if you have adequate thickness of your current backstop, every time you shoot, it gets damaged. Wood and steel do not heal, but earth does. At the very least, I recommend backfilling with Earth, and filling wider and taller.

Even then, I think a reasonable person has cause for concern. Flipping everything around so that you are shooting toward your own property would seem a reasonable compromise.

I stopped reading when you said you built a backstop 10' from your property line.

Move it.

I used to have a big yellow chicken suit. Just to mess with my brothers, I'd don the suit and run in front of the cameras. About twice a month I'd get some funny arse text's from them!!! LOL!

This ^^^^^

But then you'd have the same concern as him... That should tell you something.

Get an ir light and point it at his camera you can’t see it but it will totally obscure his camera it will look like a constant white flash once this is done I hope you don’t have a stray pellet to his lens. Try the light on your own game camera it works.

Not just any old backstop. A backstop of shattered plywood and aluminum foil.
