was this the one in SW Mississippi that is a potential record? I heard the same thing from some folks in the area.

Nah, this was in Kemper/Noxubee area. Those kinds of rumors are going to be started any time a big deer gets killed just cause people are butthurt they didn’t kill it, but sometimes there’s a grain of truth.

a knife to the windpipe is just as effective
Man I’ve seen a buck jump up and nearly kill my dad after being down in a field for hours.

You couldn’t pay me to take a knife to a wounded deer.

My son has tackled a couple of does when the dogs let go of them and slit their throats, but I would not recommend it. Especially if they were bucks.

They will rip you open with a sharp kick. Best to put some lead in the brainpan.

IF you are sucessful at doing this, which is hard as hell, now all you got is a wheezing deer that is as pissed off as it is scared. Anyone that talks about slicing ones neck, I have serious doubts in....oh, you can do it, but you better go at it with some pretty serious intent.

I understand, but he had plenty of thick clothes on and was all out of buckshot both times.
