I bought my dad a weed puller.
My wife bought me one of Grandpas Weeder's last year for Fathers Day 'cause she is mean like that. In all honesty the damn thing works like a charm and is actually enjoyable to use....very cathartic. I spend about 30 minutes to an hour a couple of evenings a week after work pulling weeds and tossing them in a 5 gallon bucket and it is extremely satisfying. It also works very well. Our yard was infested with weeds and the weed services we have used have largely been ineffective....this thing is not. Our yard is almost weed free now. It looked bad when the grass was dormant with all the weed plugs missing but the grass has filled back in now and it is in better shape than it has been since we owned it. Great product in my experience.

I have the TS8000, use it for plumbing work mostly but it also definitely works well to sear sous-vide steaks too.
Will also make a pretty good grilled cheese in a pinch...

I have used it in this application as well. When the cut has some fat on the edges that was tough to sear.

I'm getting a new broom, scope rings for the. 22 rifle, and I just picked some really nice ribeyes. Already have some good bourbon ready to go. And I'm going in for LASIK tomorrow, if that works out that'll be nice.
It's impossible to get anything for my dad that he hasn't already bought or picked up out of a trash pile on the side of the road.

Got my dad a new Case Trapper. They were running a deal a few weeks ago so I went ahead and got me and him both one.

I posted this in the Home/Garden Board, I think if the dad likes working on things it's a great deal
Walmart Hyper Tough 12v tools
Don't laugh; you get 90+% of the use of the Milwaukee M12 tools, same form factor, for a fraction of the cost.
Milwaukee M12 ratchet (tool only, $129. With 1.5ah battery and charger, $199)
HT ratchet with 1.5ah battery and cheap charger $39
Milwaukee M12 FUEL 3/8 Stubby Impact Wrench with 2.5ah battery, $199
HT 3/8 Stubby Impact Wrench with 2ah battery, $59
HT 4ah battery with fast charger $36
note, you will need the 4ah battery to get good use out of the 3/8 impact wrench. The other batteries will be fine in the ratchet. They also have an extended ratchet for $59, with another 1.5ah battery. They also have the 4ah battery for $25, 2 pack for 45.
I have the M12 ratchet and some other tools, they are great. I wanted the stubby and the extended ratchet, didn't really want to pay over $400 for them. I found the HT, and got the stubby, extended ratchet, a charger and 3 4ah batteries. This gives me (2) 1.5ah, a 2ah, and 3 4ah batteries and 2 tools, for under $200.
I ordered them off walmart.com and got them shipped free in a day. I looked, if you order now you should get them Saturday (so before Father's Day). It was delivered by a Walmart employee in a Walmart van, I think they just drove from the nearest Walmart. I've ordered in early morning and got things that afternoon.
Or, you could drive to walmart...

A phone call or house call
This. My two brothers both live out of state on the east coast (we are in Louisiana) so this weekend my wife and I headed to my dad’s house, which is only 2 hours away. I just put ribs on the pit. He and I went to the hunting property this morning to just fool around with water levels, future deer plots, etc.
