I got two of them last year. I got a 13.9" and a 20" and they're both outstanding.

need to decide on an 18” .308 barrel and BCG for my build.

Faxon makes a good fluted 5R stainless barrel for a decent price. If money is no object I'd be on the lookout for a LaRue barrel/upper....Tack drivers.

Just remember that 308 builds are extremely extremely finicky. I'd try to always use an 8" buffer tube and a heavier buffer. It just eliminates so many feeding/reliability concerns.

I’ve got a couple barrels from Faxon and like them a lot. I’ll check out LaRue and see if they have barrels available. Thinking I’ll go mid-upper end of barrels for this build.

This is my first AR-10 build so I’m going to post what I’m thinking and y’all let me know if you see anything whacky or have other suggestions.

SLR B-30 ambi billet receiver set
SLR Helix 16” Handguard
Armaspec ambi builders lower parts kit
CMC Single Stage flat trigger
DD stock and pistol grip
Armaspec stealth recoil spring srs-308
SLR sentry adjustable gas block and tube
PWS ratcheting
Barrel TBD
BCG TBD

Geissele Super Duty rifles on sale today for $1580 direct from Geissele. Normally about $2K.

Extremely nice rifles, but overpriced normally.

If people are paying $700 for an upper/lower/handguard set I'm not sure overpriced means anything.

Nice. Do yourself a favor and try to find a triggertech to feel before you buy something else.

I’ll take your word for it and go with it for these two builds. I have a CMC single stage and Geisselle SSA-E that I really like but not opposed to switching it up.

Anyone seen Q’s new trigger they’ve been flaunting around Instagram? Seems like it’ll be available within next few weeks. It will allow the safety selector to be manipulated without having the hammer cocked which is pretty cool.

Worth it to spend the extra money and buy a KAC or Noveske.

Hoping the e-Form 4 process will speed that up exponentially. Already eyeing a Knights QDC.

If you can even find a KAC, they're going for $3500 now. That's about $1000 more than they were a year or so ago, if you could even find one.

Sorry, but it's just not worth that when you can build something lose to it for $1500 less or get an LMT for $1000 less and get basically the same rifle, but with cooler features and no proprietary parts BS. Hell, I think even LMT makes (or at least they used to) many of the parts for Knights.

I will admit, though, an SR15 is about the best looking rifle on the market.

You can find them at MSRP, they just go very quickly when in stock. Best places to look are Operation Parts and Presample Depot.

If the market says they're worth it then they're worth it, but I don't get the appeal. Even if I as OCD about upper/lower fit I could get a matched billet set from somewhere and put a Krieger or Compass Lake barrel on it. I don't buy rifles to sell them so if resale value is a factor I get that, but I just want reliable and accurate. There are plenty of ways to get that.

KAC's bolt and extension are designed a little different from mil spec. If I were going to go the pre-built gucci route, I'd go with theirs.
