I am really curious to see how it all pans out this time. Pretty much every time this has been won in Venice. However as someone else noted Venice is a mess right now.

Until Saturday of last weekend we were catching between 30-60 bass a trip easily. The river went up just a little and we caught 53 on Thursday and 4 on Saturday. We haven't caught less than 30 since the summer and we fish it a lot especially during duck season. I wonder if this will keep the pros in the Catauouatche area or what?? I am real curious.

Bayou Black, Blue Bird Canal pulled a stringer of 17+ a couple of weeks ago. Can they fish the Lake Verrett area? If I was fishing, I am heading straight to Bayou Black and Verrett if that is a available to fish. The bass have been hammering spinners in the Willow Canal(Lake Verrett). Caught 3 and half pounder a couple of weeks ago and missed two nice fish.

The pros can not fish the Verrett area. The College Classic is fishing that water.

This is interesting a couple of weeks ago the willow canal wasn't holding enough water to flush a toliet...
And the willow canal we grew up fishing was never known for bass, and we always wondered why because it is such a pretty canal.

And I had an 18lb 5 fish sack from Blind River this weekend

Isn't it funny when someone finds fish in Verret area it is always from Crackerhead or Willow canal.

Verret is off limits to the Pros this weekend but you might want to share this information with the guys from LSU who are fishing against Alabama this weekend on Verret....

My money is on my homeboy Clark Rheem. He finished 7th in the classic last time it was held in the delta... he's a sleeper.

There are a few sleepers. Really, anyone can win. The waters are so crazy down here all you need to do is get lucky can run into one canal with some nice fish to win it all.

Shaw Grigsby is in it too... not kidding, that dude made a run when it was on the Red River a few years ago.

He plays a half wit on his old show, but that dude can fish.

From the reporter riding with Michael Iaconelli today, he just reported this minutes ago:

One of the interesting things he said this morning:

"I really believe I've located the group of winning fish," he said.

Iaconelli doesn't plan to visit them today, instead using the day for a final rehearsal, making sure of his run, shortcuts, fuel stops, basically his game plan and time management are spot on.

"Today is a day for me I'm not even going to make a cast," he said. "If I make a cast today, I'll be surprised.

"I found an area in the practice ... I don't want to even get near it. I think there's a group of fish that live there and I've just got to figure them out."

Joke all you want. Facts or the facts. The bass are in the Willow for some reason this year. Yes, the water is extremely low, this is why I have a Hankos flat bottom. Do a little reading on the stringers caught around the Bayou Black area the last couple of weeks. I have not had any luck fishing Crappie in the Willow(unlike others that I have seen the ice chest of Crappie), but on the other hand the bass were tearing it up. White spinner bait.

As long as you don't say you caught them on a White H&H I will belive you....

I know what you mean on boats I run an xpress tin rig which is more than capable of skinny water fishing.

Where the hell did you fish in Blind River? I went last weekend just to run my boat. The water is extremely low and muddy. I wouldn't expect there to be much bass action there.

He is an excellent shallow water angler and I wouldn't be surprised if he made a run at it. He went to the same HS that I did so that would be pretty cool to see him win.
