Not toughest of the AT but certainly not like much of GA, NC, and TN. It's a pebble compared to New England.

im looking forward to taking many more trips on the trail for a long time to come.. like velvet said, the reward is always worth it, otherwise you wouldnt be doing it. also if it was easy everyone would be doing it, i love the feeling of accomplishment i get when i finish a hike

the picture isnt working fyi.
but 42 days halfway is pretty insane. i was reading up on the person who did it the fastest... wow. it was a woman, who ran it.. 42 miles each day... took her 46 days to do the whole trail... i much prefer a leisurely pace, just take in my surroundings

did you ever run any part of it? I think I would try to run through one of the valley sections for about 15 miles, but thats easy to say.

negative... first time hiking ever so i was going very slow and had a heavy pack on..... well we ran the last half mile back, the concrete part that was all downhill, only because my thighs were so sore that they were cramping up when i would stop myself... so i just said eff it, and let gravity do the work.... prob not very safe though

You tube has thousands of videos that folks made on it. I can't find the one I was watching the other day, but he had mad about 40 videos all the length of the trail. I have it saved at work Monday I'll link it if I can't find it before then.

Here it is
I haven't watched all of it. But gives you a good look at what the trail is. I actually hiked some of it in New Hampshire and didn't realize it. About two years ago visiting my sister I did a short day hike in Franconia Notch State Park and I believe the trail goes through it. Straight up and down for two or three miles. Course I just had a small day/hydration pack less than 8 pounds.

Franconia Ridge is probably my favorite area of the AT. The presidential range was amazing.

He is annoying. Some of the videos of the northern part is a little better. He sounds like he is from New Hampshire or something. He has one of the Franconia ridge that shows how steep it is.

I only have two pics of Franconia ridge
this is the trail. Straight down
