yeah it isnt slipping it is actually breaking where the line meets the eye of the hook. I am just gonna get some 832, I do appreciate it though.

What Lb test of braided line do most folks fish with for speck and reds?

Suffix 832 for the win. I also have a few reels spooled with Fins 8 strand and PP super slick 8 and I by far prefer the 832 over the other 2. It's hard to bring myself to strip the other reels with Fins and Super Slick 8 when those braids aren't cheap, so I just deal with it on those. But any new spooling for a while now gets 832.

I've had more problems recently with Power Pro. Mysterious line breaks, etc. Considering a change, but used to think it was the best.

I go with 30# for basically everything from inshore to bass except punching rod for bass.

Last weekend I chunked a shedog as far as I could and had some sort of hang up on the spool which snapped the knot and sent the thing flying to the bank. Right as it hit the water, a redfish did a backflip on it, as I watched. Pissed me off

Never had that problem, I just didn't like how noisy it was. Switched to 832 and/or J8, problem solved.

Never had a problem with the 50 and 65 lbs Power Pro. I do find some inconsistency with the lighter lines. I used to use 20 lbs PP on some of my perch jerking rods. Would have some random break offs occasionally when I would get hung up in timber. The reason I was using 20 lbs braid was so I could just pull the hook straight instead of having to go disturb the nest by trolling up to it. Most of the time the hook would straighten and I'd be good to go. Sometimes the line would just break.

?? I fish 30 on all of mine. I don’t mind 20 but you have to be more careful the first fast after a hookset.

Could be a bad batch. Contact their customer service department. They may offer to send you a new spool and want that one back to run some type of failure analysis on it. Just like anything else manufactured it has raw materials and raw material specs, machines and machine calibrations, etc... Most of these companies take quality control pretty seriously. Definitely worth a call to them.

Feel like there’s a very personal story behind this, cause I have no issues whatsoever down to 20, and I wouldn’t be afraid to go smaller just haven’t seen the need. 50lb braid is rope, if you can’t throw anything smaller then it’s not the line.

It tangles too easily, bites down into spool making next cast a waste. I have a couple spin cast rigged with 30 for sight fishing. But bait casters are all 60/65. Still got spools of Berkeley braid from tourney days, so I’m using it until I run out.

Agreed. I've got 20lb braid on all but 1 of my baitcasters and never have an issue with it. Sufix 832 on all but my new tatula that I spooled with powerpro super slick v2 just to try something different.

I have 8lb power pro on my tiny spinning reels for perch jerking. It's awesome.
