Because Mil-spec is just a standard, it doesnt mean its the best or the worst. It is just a standard. Mil-Spec changes, so a gun that is mil-spec this year, might not be mil-spec next year. Does that make any sense?

I did not know this. I thought Mil-Spec was standard that most (99%) of ARs were built to. I thought you could take a bolt from a new Bushy or LMT or DD or any of them and put it in most (99%) of ARs, regardless of age.

I have a good friend who has a lower receiver from Nam (with the proper paperwork) who put a SBR upper on it. The upper is brand new and now he has a SBR full auto. They work perfectly together even though they are 40 years apart. I thought that was the point of Mil-Spec.

I dont know if 99% is accurate.

I don't think it so much about fitting parts together as it is about the quality of the metal used, chrome lined or not, barrell twist ratio, etc. You could use non-mil-spec parts, they just may not perform as well or last as long. I'm no expert though.

Yeah I may have estimated a bit high. But out of the most common, big name brand ARs, they are Mil-Spec. I cannot think of a single brand that is not. Maybe Olympic Arms?

And while materials made is one thing to consider while talking about Mil-Spec, the problems I have heard are regarding about aftermarket parts not fitting in RJ ARs. Who knows?

Probably so you have to buy their over-priced crap.

That is exactly my thoughts.

Has anyone checked out their "brand" of 1911s? I haven't heard too much about them. I can only imagine what "upgrades" they have done to them. But for the price, you gotta decide, RJ 1911 or Wilson Combat 1911?

I think they just mess around with an already good gun. Cannot recall the brand, but Will mentioned it on air. Wesson or Baer or some such.

Mil-spec is about quality of materials used and fitment.

At one time, that's what they were doing. If they have changed, I am not aware of it. The price is actually nice if that is what they are doing.

I dont think you can even call it pimped. It's an STI with "REDJACKET" all the way across the slide. And that's about it...
