If you enjoy duck refuges all up the flyway so birds don't come down anymoe then yes it is.

USFWS creates an awful lot of refuges......DU doesn't create many...

but your theory is on.. combined with no till farming... has significantly changed migration patterns..

and add to this the 400% increase in hutning pressure in the dakotas...duck hunting has changed...

oh and the fact that many young ducks are taken early in the season as they are very gullible for spinners.

ask anyone that hunted near geuydan or klondike what it was like in the late 70s and early 80s... compared to now...

hunting pressure and migration patterns change.. by habitat influences...LOOK canada geese USED To use the marsh on the east coast...

Understood, the point was DU's and other's intentions are good in theory, but it has screwed the south over.

ANd I know about the 70, 80, and 90's. I grew up in Jeff Davis Parish. Good times hunting.

And correct. Hunting has become so popular and "corporate" every field from here to Canada is now leased or a reaserve!

Yes I'm I'm hunting...No I'm not bad luck.. The whole deal was sketch though... Horrible blind placement ( only maybe a puddle of water 20ft across for birds to land in). Guide lied and said they been hunting this blind all year... We could tell that it had not been hunted at all... Guide couldn't call worth a shite... Then called at ducks nonstop and wouldn't shut up... Lodging accommodations consist of bunk beds with other random guys from all over... This place was not what it was talked up to be basically a wasted trip

Holy crap you got unlucky. I know of 13 different clubs in AR that have set records for birds killed already. The hunting has been phenomenal up there to say the least.

That being said don't know about a refund but keep in mind you get what you pay for $160 is almost giving away a hunt now a day. There is usually a reason someone is so cheap.

Maybe I should start guiding. Our worst day last year was 11. But we scout our asses off and rest our holes. Plus no hunting past noon.

$160 is awfully cheap for a hunt. Shoulda been some shooting in Stuttgart though. Has been a slow week overall.

Just left there. GOing to work for a few days then head back up or head down to Venice for a few days before heading back. Living in S. LA its hard to be in Arkansas the entire season and goose creeping season.

I don't know what to say about the guides calling but for the record just because its Stuttgart doesn't mean your going to kill your limit of green heads everytime.

Exactly. I have a farm in Clarendon, just a few miles outside of Stuttgart, and every year the hunting gets worse. Of course there are awesome days, but also a lot of time watching the sky. Everyone I talk to is dumbfounded when I tell them I didn't get 19437 ducks on the last trip up there. Stuttgart just has a stigma, but each year it gets harder to live up to.

I've heard theories that modern rice farming doesn't provide near the waste grain that it did in the 1970's or 1980's when Stuttgart and the grand prairie got so popular as a hunting destination. The massive areas of rice fields were huge suckholes for migrating ducks. Also, look how much more rice is up into the bootheel of Missouri and northeastern Arkansas now. Mojo's, more pressure, no-till farming, and some milder winter weather at times has really changed duck hunting in the south. We still kill plenty of ducks around but success is much more spotty and it seems you have to hunt a lot harder now to be successful than the 90's.
