Good morning, I have the opportunity to take my 8 year old to hunt whitetail with a friend in Texas in the next few days. Does anyone know if the youth license covers deer? It says resident or nonresident and “exempt from state hunting endorsement requirements” but doesn’t say anything about deer. The non resident general specifically calls out that it includes deer, so just wanting to verify. It’s a difference between $7 and $315 so just trying to verify before pulling the trigger on the license.

Are you, or your buddy, hunting as well?

I believe that youth must be accompanied by a licensed adult. You’re good on youth being able to shoot a deer with the $7 license.

The $7 license is all you need. Go with the digital e-license.

You’ll have to buy yourself a license and add the $7 youth license

Thank y’all. That is what I needed. I will purchase the nonresident general for me and the youth for him.

Thanks everyone and he had a few great hunts. Took a doe yesterday morning and took a nice 10 pt New Years Day. Had a blast and learned a lot!
