Anyone ever launch at Fred's Lounge at Big Lake? Looking to try somewhere new on Saturday.

Lefty, did you manage to find any fish around Freds? What area did you fish around there?

It was low tide and we had trouble finding anywhere to fish because it was too shallow. We had to pedal in the middle of that channel to get towards Turner's. We finally were able to fish and ended up with 1 red and 4 flounder between us. Then it was time to head back because it was too hot.

Yikes. Y'all headed north west out of the launch, then made that turn and fished the marsh area?

Our buddy in the Feel Free tried to fish that same area on a low tide and had to push his kayak through the mud about 500 yards

Yep. We made that left and had to stay in the middle of the bayou. We couldn't fish any of those pockets until we got near Tuner's. The area by Fred's was dirty.

A bowfishing boat got stuck one night within sight of us. He had to get a sheriff boat to bring him back there the next morning.

What is the minimum size kayak y’all think someone could get away fishing the bays, marshes, and rivers of the MS Gulf Coast and the nearshore reefs out front?

12' is ideal. I've had everything from 10-14' and like I said, 12' is the best all around in my opinion.

I have a 10' propel. Use it everywhere. From half mile offshore to rivers.

I think 12’ is the best all around. Can still fit in tight places but can handle some chop.

Went to Big Lake Friday with ClassicGold in the yaks and we found a few fish. Took a nap in the trucks at Rita’s

I agree that 12 footers are best all around. But that 10' Slayer Propel is an agile little boat. And I had no trouble standing in the one I tried. I'd love to have one.

Didn't think anyone would be on the water this weekend.

Couldn't find a red to save my life in Leeville yesterday. Caught a few trout, but the 2 rat reds I caught may have combined to squeak out a keeper. Of course the wind was brutal.
