That's what I love about the Jackson Coosa HD. It has a spot in the center scupper whole that fits transducers perfectly and out of the way.

How hard would it be to recreate/mimic that design in the H12?

Impossible. The h12 doesn't have scupper holes. Your best option is to mimic the black box set up and use the built in gear tracs on the h12 to mount it.

... and rain too.
Cross straps are great, but you really need painters (bow n stern lines) to complete the deal. They'll help cut down on lateral stress from wind and even torquing by 18wheelers blowing by. I've carried bunches of carbon fiber and kevlar boats, as well as these HDP hulls (both linear and crosslink) and three/four points of tie down is best for the hull. Plus you don't have to torque down near as hard. Also does away with that single point of failure that's can cost you big bucks if one comes undone.
If your looking for a front place to tie, without going over a hood (and it's paint)...a piece of folded over Tubular webbing (thin) with a hole burnt through can be installed under your hood. Flip out from under when needed and keep under side of hood when not using. I've got pic's and there's instructions on internet (whitewater kayak and canoeing web sites) it's pretty common.
eta: how to make only need be about a third as long - and you burn the hole with a hot nail or soldiering iron

Got out on the Hiwassee this past weekend. Was way too busy to fish a lot, snagged a few small bows.
You might try hard river right next trip. Most paddlers are playing and paddling on left, leaving the slower, shallower, right side for fishermen.

Thanks for the lesson taught. Makes a lot of sense

Anybody going out this weekend? Isn't the fishing before/during a big storm in the Gulf supposedly pretty good?

Hammered the reds in PAC yesterday. Grass was thick

What lure/bait combo did you use in the thick grass?
I usually try a spoon and still get covered in grass.

Some homemade baits I got from a guide in port aransas last week. They don't have a name. But basically a big soft plastic with the hook hidden. They still got grass on an. Other rod had a good spoon. Caught a few on it as well

Yeehaw! Now I don't have to guess what I'm fishing. I got it installed, but probably won't get a chance to use it until maybe Sunday.
If anybody else is looking for a small yak fish finder, Cabela's and Dick's have these on sale for $140-150ish.

Heck yes Teague!
I got mine in last week. Mounted it like this. I'm pumped about this lil guy. The reviews were all great.
This is a closer shot of the transducer mount.

Any advice on kayak fishing Point Au Chene? Where to put the yak in? I haven't been there since i was a kid (at least 17 years). I was wanting to make a salt trip this weekend.

PAC Kayak has a really nice launch, you could also launch off the side of island road or at the launch on Island Road, all depends where you want to fish.

Where is that at? When I google it the map location gives me a pin in the middle of nowhere for Point Au Chene Marina. No marina to be seen on satellite.
Thanks
edit>: is it point au chene landing at the end of the road?

Google this, or put it in your GPS, Paw Paw Court Montegut, LA. Google Maps doesn't have an updated pic but if you're following the main road down to PAC it'll be the last road you can turn right on. Follow the little street down to the end, can't miss it. If you miss the turn you end up in the parking lot of the actual boat marina, don't launch there.

Here, I made you a map.
And to explain the dicks, prior to Eddie building the kayak launch the marina owner didn't care about kayaks. Once he realized he was losing business from launch fees, ice sales, etc he's done everything he can to discredit the kayak launch, from spreading rumors about it being built illegally on someone else's land to now offering free launched to kayaks only. Boat people are even launching at his marina and coming over to Eddie's for ice/bait/etc.
