I’m already at $2500 between suppressor and rifle. I’d like to save a little money on the scope. I’ve always gone with at least spending as much on the scope as the rifle. Plan on it being a kid’s gun and shooting close. I already know it will become my go to as well. 300 yds would be the max I would want to shoot. I also want set it and forget it reliability. Best price I have found is $480 without rings. Is it a viable option? Should I bite the bullet and step up? Any other less than a grand scopes I should entertain?

Google rokslide drop test.
Nightforce, trijicon, maven are the top contenders in those test. My last scope was a Nightforce and I’m not all all disappointed in it but my next set it and forget it will be a trijicon.

Gun Deals shows a few places a little cheaper, but read reviews on those retailers prior to purchasing from them.

Nothing too fancy. Tikka 308 with a 16” barrel. CAT 308 suppressor.

I’ve got one in 3-9. Real hard to beat for a set and forget at the price when you catch them on sale. Would be great for what you described.
