Oahu fishing recommendations June
Posted by Ol boy on 4/18/26 at 5:17 pm
Family vacation in Oahu in June and may try to book a fishing trip for me and my son. Did some searches here and some google and it doesn’t look very promising but just curious if anyone has some information on a guide they recommend.
Not trying to land a grander but don’t want to troll for 8hrs and catch a kingfish and a bonito and have the guide tell me how we “just missed them” and reality that’s all they ever catch!!!

Not every gun your paw paw had was some cherished heirloom
Correct but that gun is not a turd. If pawpaw passed down a high pernt then maybe get rid of it. Take that back I would carry that brick with pride and try to clap a deer with it shooting sideways just for pawpaw!!!

Would you shoot a 55+ year old gun that is unfired in the box that was your grandfather's?
Are you asking from a safety perspective? I routinely hunt with several different rifles and shotguns that are 50 plus years old.
If from a resale value not firing it and keeping it pristine will add value but if it was me the value of pawpaws gun is irrelevant cus it wouldn’t ever be for sale and I would take it hunting every chance I had.

Anyone else been diagnosed with this as an adult? If so, have you gone on meds.
My wife not a dr lol has diagnosed me as ADHD because of my restlessness and inability to focus on the BS she wants me to focus on.
Haven’t taken a IQ test because I don’t want to be let down and disappointed.
I’m 50yrs old very successful in my field of work, graduated with a 4yr degree zero medications and plan to stay that way.
I might be Fkd up but I don’t need anyone telling me I am and surely don’t want them trying to “fix” me!!

have, over the course of 42 duck seasons, occasionally shot a bull sprig pintail. I mean a nice one....if there were such a thing a Boone and Crockett pintail...one for the record books. Shooting pintails ain't all that unusual, depending of course on location, but every so often I have shot a really nice one and when the dog brought it back to the blind the damned thing had transitioned into a red headed merganser
I have seen it. My brother many years ago when he was just getting old enough to hunt in a pirogue by himself. We heard him shoot and then he proceeded to holler at me and my older cuz to not shoot anymore pintails. I told my cousin I didn’t even see any pintails fly over but whatever cool deal.
When the hunt is over he paddles up to us a proceeds to show us his “pintails “ that had somehow transformed into spoonbills!!!
Craziest thing that’s ever happened, we continue to remind him of it 30# years later!!

I had extreme pain after La marathon 2025 and fought it for several weeks. I went to physical therapy a they dry needled it with a stimulus and it released all the knots causing it. My whole leg was spasms while they did it.
I couldn’t run 30yd before and was running a mile a week after.

What is the best way to do them?
Rinse them till water is clear enough to drink.
Add a bag of powder seasoning you like and (celery onions, garlic, bell pepper lemons ) , and bring to a boil drop crawfish and boil till they float to the top and kill the fire.
Taste them after soaking for 20mins and add liquid crab boil and salt if needed taste again after 30mins.

Living in China is probably like living in America in the 50s Imagine pulling your 8 hours at the factoly and going and getting dlunk at the bowring alley with your buddies then driving home to a home cooked generar tsos chicken every day This is what they took from us and they want us to hate them for their freedom
I spent two years working 28/28 in a rural area of China. It nothing like America at all. They work then go home and play video games, they have no hobbies an play no sports. It’s a bleak existence and they all are intrigued and amazed at how Americans live (vacations, hot rods, hunting, fishing and playing sports)
The only time they really would drink or have a party would be new year or a funeral, funerals would last several days with tons of fireworks and food and paid cryers and dancers.

who's to say it requires the SO part? If there's a pipeline just add some shipping pumps and export compressors, and tie it in to the pipeline. I suspect this is a bad business model, as no one is doing it.
But you’re still talking about maintaining and operating a vessel versus conventional platform. Coupled with cost of a pipeline it’s not financially feasible.
With the capability of subsea pumps increasing distance of tie backs to 30 miles now versus 15 a few years ago.
GOM has enough platforms that we won’t see many more new platforms.

Now I'm in my mid 40s and it is about longevity. My dad had a heart attack 4 years ago, and around that time I was at my heaviest weight. Decided to shed the pounds, and that turned into focusing on strength, mobility, and some cardio
It’s crazy how the 40s hit. Growing up in South la my family whole extended family was about working hard and saving their money but complete disregard for their health. They all pretty much had enough money to do whatever they wanted but couldn’t because of their health.
I alwsys joke that a financial planner would say I was on track to have enough money till I’m 102 but my doctor would have said I would be lucky to make it till 62!!

run 3-4 5k runs a week, plus a lot of additional walking and short runs. I'm able to run almost a full mile before I have to slow down and walk to lower my bpm. My pace is down to 12:48
Congrats on getting out there and doing it. I started with a 5k 2yrs ago and have now completed two marathons and a 50k and a portion of a 50 miler.
Don’t worry about the run walking and if you haven’t heard of it google Jeff Galloway method. You may be able to run walking just as fast or faster using it and if nothing else your recovery will be faster after the race.
I have probably lied more about where I have caught or didn’t catch fish than all combined lies I have ever told!! Could have been me lol.
For elk season 2046, decided a few years ago only thing that was gonna keep me from truly enjoying life was my health.
Just turned 50 this year, ran a marathon and 32 miles of a 50miler. Plan to complete a 50 in July. I tell friends you don’t have to run marathons to elk hunt but if you run marathons you can hunt elk.
