It’s a different fishery for larger trout. He didn’t like the lack of structure when I talked to him, especially around the islands. He going to have to learn underwater structure - ledges, grass, etc. It’s much more finesse when looking for quality trout (outside of the croaker fisherman in the summer).

Drove me crazy how he would say ‘hammer’ every third word.

That it is. Also pretty wide open considering where you can go and how you can fish when pushing off from the dock. Every area has it's ins and outs.

His greatest advantage in GI was fishing midweek when conditions were right.

That's any of these youtubers' advantage. If all you got is the weekend, there's a good shot you'll have crap wind, neap tide, muddy water, etc.

The ability to pick your day is paramount to these guys being able to put out these videos. It ain't like they're out there winning tournaments.

Except he has won the Star tournament for largest trout a couple of times. One for him and another for his wife I think. Think another year he lucked up and caught a tagged redfish.

While you make a valid point, the Star tournament isn't just over the course of a weekend. He can go catch that fish when conditions are perfect mid-week.

ETA: I'm an idiot. See below

I enjoy his videos, whether he is fishing GI or the MS coast.

I don't care if he's a strange guy or he ran a HOA in a way that some owners didn't agree with. I'm never going to be his neighbor, fishing buddy, or more than likely ever have contact with him.

Exactly. People have nothing better to do than to comment on a random post saying “frick him”
That says a lot about the person that posts that, no him

Watching his videos, he doesn't come across as the "finesse" kind of fisherman.

I guess we will get to watch and see what he learns.

Did not know that and not trying to hate on him, I think his videos are funny and his accent reminds me of my grandparents.

But, I'm talking about all these guys. Literally to just film and edit and etc., tell me when the last time their videos had the coffee milk water and 3' waves with 20kt winds. It's just not easy or practical to produce these videos when you can't pick your days.

I think Devin is the only one of the SE LA YouTubers who has videos of him in crap conditions and turns out her pretty much tore it up on that trip.
