Lots of good ideas. I will say I like to change things up and use chorizo instead of breakfast sausage from time to time. It’s very flavorful and a little goes a long way.

Anyone been lately?
I got a not so good report from early midweek. Said water level is down 3-4 ft and it was extremely tough fishing from some buddies that went for a few days.

I went with this guy last year and would use him again.
Swamp to Sea
ETA: He is not based out of Miami but I know he travels around depending on what you want to target and the fish patterns. Our trip was closer to West Palm Beach.

All these caps, rebar, bolts, screws, swivels, and speed clips. Gonna get real expensive making some simple catfish noodles unless you only making a few.
I only use one barrel swivel per noodle. Keep it simple.
The video posted early in the thread is different from how I do mine but it’s pretty simple and cost effective.

Every person that has come with me says I have the best system they have seen. Here are the basics.
I use pool noodles with a pvc pipe in the center. The pvc is a must as the foam will degrade over time and the line will eventually cut through the noodle like a knife through butter.
- run a line through the pipe with a single barrel swivel on one end for the hook line. 3 ft. With a large circle hook.
- 15 ft line on the other end with a heavy weight. a pound is about right.
The hook and weight should be on opposite ends which makes it easier to deploy, pickup, and stow.
I use colors to mark and keep up with my noodles as sometimes a big fish, gator, or usually another boat will pick one up. I mark the start with a green noodle and then put 5 blue noodles before and another green and repeat until finishing with a green one.
Fresh cut perch, shad, or even mullet is by far the best bait unless targeting flatheads which willl require live bait. If fresh cut bait isn’t an option chicken hearts marinated with strawberry jello mix and garlic works good and small. shrimp with the shell on also work.
ETA: I can give specifics for tying the line and the noodle if needed.

Another vote for this place. Good food, simple and straightforward menu with huge portions. Wish we had something similar in BR.

My go to is an extended hold 10-16 hrs in a 150 degree oven.
This guy has an excellent detailed video on this method.

Won’t be doing Hogs this year but had a blast last time we went. Just got back from Troubadour and that was awesome.

but search feature still sucks.
Since it’s hard I found these for you in less than 5 minutes. For future reference don’t use the search feature within Tigerdroppings. Instead do a google search and add Tigerdroppings after your search words such as “handgun recommendations tigerdroppings”. You are welcome.
Oh and don’t keep a gun in your vehicle unless you have a way of locking/securing beyond just locking the vehicle doors. It’s widely considered irresponsible gun ownership and how many thugs easily get their hands on guns.

If you are gonna spend that much I highly recommend checking out a used commercial fryer like what is used in a restaurant. They are easily found for sale on FB market place. I paid $200.00 for mine. Set the temp and forget it. Most come rigged for natural gas but the jets can be converted to propane.

That does sound like overkill for 15 people. There quite a few electric fryers that hold a little over a gallon of oil that would be perfect for your application and you don’t have to worry about it regulating the oil temperature.
You can pick one up from Walmart or Amazon for 45-60 bucks. I plug mine up on my back porch.
A simple propane pot and basket like posted above works also.

re: Lead And Lithium Batteries In Boat
Posted by Mister Bigfish on 3/25/26 at 9:45 am to WillFerrellisking
I’m not sure about that. Probably need a separate charger but sure someone more qualified will chime in.
Is it an older 2 stroke motor with no alternator?
For my rig I don’t even have my on board charger connected to my cranking battery. The alternator from my outboard keeps its up with no problem. If there were an extended time maybe several months without using the boat I just connect an external charger to my cranking battery before the trip.
Sorry, this doesn’t answer your question just explaining my setup.

Litimes are awesome batteries but they always have a sale going on. I am no expert but everything I read on the topic indicated that 100 AH are best for trolling motor applications.

That’s clearly dated from a year ago from the thrive plan. The website hasn’t been updated for the plan rolled out today.

Yeah, the money isn’t coming from the library fund for this.
No new tax.
I am guessing the audit the mayor recently called for turned up some funds.
This is a good thing for the officers and the city.

Heading to the Troubador BBQ festival next weekend. Hope to sample some good bbq at the festival but will be looking to try something not BBQ while in town for a few days.
Anyone else going? Restaurant recommendations appreciated.
TIA

Yes most use a cork, not weighted. Your choice of jig head weight depending on depth. I usually use 1/32 for fixing shallow right now.
