My pair of Bulls Bay 7'6' assault rods showed up yesterday, they appear to be a very well built rod. I'll be picking up a pair of Shimano Vanford 3000's this afternoon to put on them spooled with 15lb braid. Thanks to everyone for all the input and discussion on the subject. This palce is a wealth of knowledge as I'm transitioning to more inshore than offshore fishing.

You guys spend way more money on rods than i do.
Do you guys have kids or friends using these when they are in the boat?

I just bought a TFO Professional and it feels nice. Their Coastal, which retails much higher, is on sale at Sierra Trading.
Just got this in the mail. Good looking out!

I tend to buy nice gear that will last a long time. I learned years ago to buy once, cry once after going through tons of cheaper gear. I do keep cheaper rods and reels for guests on my boat like diawa bg's and what not. My rods and reels are generaaly all shimano (Saragosa, Trinidad's, Toriums on terez or TrevalaS rods) and most have been in service for more than 10 yrs with few if any issues.

FYI, I did notice that Bull Bay offers a warranty for defects and also a $40 replacement for accidents.

Thanks for pointing that out, I did not know about it.

Yep, most reply’s have incredibly over thunk this question by OP.
7’ med fast action & 2500 reel with 30# braid will be good enough for ling to flounder.
