I've killed lots of turkeys with my Mossberg 940 31/2" mag with turkey choke. Reliable and comparatively inexpensive. Just as important are the shells you shoot. Go with Federal Premium copper plated 3 1/2" #6. They are not cheap come in a box of 5 after all how many will you need. A box of 5 will last 2 or 3 seasons.

Short Mossberg story.
Oldest son bought a new 835 Ulti Mag a few years ago from guy in a money bind
I called Rhino and ordered a choke and we got a box of Nitros
On the bench at 40 yards it shot a pretty decent pattern but nothing to really brag about.
He said let me try the Mossberg turkey choke that came with the gun. I figured it would be poor at best.
I could not believe the hits on the piece of paper.
A turkey killing machine !!!!
You never know

The gun itself won’t be that long in a break action.

I have the Remington 870 SPS Super slug turkey gun in
12 gauge. LINK
I had a Mossberg 500 12 gauge before and it was fine. I never missed shite because of the gun. But being long it used to get caught up in vines etc in the swamp I hunt. It's also harder to slide up into shooting position while staring at a turkey.
I may shoot 3 to 4 times max, 3 if I don't miss so I don't know why everyone is moving away from 12 gauge unless for kids, etc. Yes, they kick but you can't beat the killing power and spread of a 12 gauge APEX TSS shell. (I would rather have a bruise and a dead turkey any time.)
Spend your money on decoys etc.
