Who is going to the Delta Waterfowl expo next weekend in Baton Rouge?

Should be lots of big brands there. This shouldn’t be like the local shoes where a bunch of people are selling sheds. Insurance and gutter covers. We’re planning on making it Friday afternoon.

Nobody. Everyone finally realized they are a sham like DU and NWTF.

Not saying you are wrong but can you expound on this? I used to volunteer for DU many years ago in college. They do some good things but after awhile I realized DU was for the ducks first & delta was for the hunter first.
What is the issue with Delta or NWTF?

Delta & DU do nothing to restore historical migration patterns which is killing duck hunting in LA and other southern states. They even deny its happening.
As for NWTF simply pull up their public Tax Form 990 and see how few turkey restoration projects in LA are funded while many other unrelated projects, organizations and programs are with turkey hunter dollars.

Goin! Been looking forward to it since this time last year when it was announced to be in BR for '24.

Nothing has gotten better since everyone dumped DU and went to Delta. The fight needs to be against short stopping and with our own state. LDWF needs habitat projects. We can't rely on some nonprofit. They only exist to enrich themselves.
If any of you ever stomached the entire waterfowl podcast on the xpress boats youtube, you would know the LA is in a bad position. XO: State of Waterfowl

What exactly do you expect them to do? I'm no fan of DU, and I'm not a member of either, but they can't change the fact that rice is getting converted to sugarcane, deep crawfish ponds, or solar farms. And they aren't going to push USFWS to outlaw hotcropping or "food plots" because that would cost them members.
Regardless, they can't change the fact that duck migration (hell, bird migration in general) is changing. Black-bellied whistling ducks have expanded their range tremendously because the environment is more favorable to them. Same for non-game birds like limpkins. And mallards aren't even migrating to places like Arkansas in the numbers they once did because they don't have to.
And the simple fact is, those organizations spend money where it's needed most--on the breeding grounds. Habitat along the gulf doesn't amount to shite if you don't have ducks to get there, and by all accounts, we don't have near as many ducks as we used to, and part of that is due to poor habitat conditions where it matters. You could have the most incredible wetland complex possible in Vermilion Parish, and it isn't going to do anything for making hunting or population numbers better.

Man I agree, I went Saturday and really enjoyed it! Met the guys from Duck Camp Diners, seems all the major brands were there, they had some really good deals going on. I thought it was WAY better than the Sportsman Show, hands down.

Went just to go , won a couple raffles, all the ones you expect to be there were. Just not a fan of DW, DU etc. Thier interests are just not with Southern hunters anymore. Its Midwest is as far south as they want them to go. No significant projects in Louisiana anymore. So i just do what i can to not support them very much. Thats hard to do coming from a family that collectively probably has donated half a million dollars over 40 years between the 2. But the writing has been on the wall for a long time, no one wanted to read it.
