Not sure when that was, but when I was growing up in the 1960’s he lived in University Acres just down the street from us. He and his equally intoxicated son were the death of several neighborhood pets when that station wagon came barreling down the street. I will say, trick or treating at his house was fun, his nose was usually glowing red by that time, and he was very entertaining handing out candy (and beers to the adults). Always enjoyed reading his columns and watching his shows.

I miss Scearce and I also miss those great old B.R. sporting goods stores like Steinberg's and Fred Parnell's.
Real sportsmen and REAL sporting goods stores!

Met him a few times when working on Louisianas rigs to reefs program. Fished w him on charile hardisons boat for a tarpon rodeo. That was an experience, overall a great supporter of the outdoors and a character, the world needs more of him

Friday night show on TV for a while. It was a short show, maybe 15-20 minutes coming on after the 10 PM news, iirc.
My grandfather used to let me stay up and watch with him. And Carson's intro
