No water from the marina, no contaminants, COOL the water(cant be too cold) which means no sun. I have had shrimp alive all day in 90 degree heat, the most important is keeping the water cool. That said you get some thin shelled weak shrimp and they will die no matter what you do, depends are where you are. Shrimp from down in Venice I find are not very robust but the ones I get in the Rigolets always seem hardy.

This may have been talked about before but here is a checklist

Use shrimp buddies...they really work, they condition the water with correct ph etc...
...Make sure water is cool, not cold...if ur water is hot they will die....
...add fresh ice(not water that isnt fresh n clean) or a frozen ice pack to well...
...Make sure as u know ur hands are clean
...If u wash boat make sure well is flushed with fresh water any soap residue will kill them if mixed in water..
...if you catch them yourself, you have much better chance of survival
...If u buy them from bait shop...those shrimp could have been dying because of lack of right envirnment and when u get them, they die...

I put ziploc bags with ice in the bucket and they stayed alive the whole trip. Needless to say, I didn't catch a damn thing. Thanks OB

I use a Coleman cooler that is taller than it is wide. Will hold about 24 cans. I use compressed oxygen instead of an aerator. They're still very lively after 8 hours with without a water change or adding ice

And I don't stick my hand in the bucket, I use a small net

Place them in wet newspaper and they will live for days.
