When individuals use christianity for monetary gain then they are using God's name in vain.

You should know this, that in the last days there will be very difficult times.
2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred.
Check!

3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good.
Check!

4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God.
Check!

5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that

And Check!

And lest we forget……

quote:

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isa. 5:20.)

Double Check!!

Most people alive today (especially in the West) have no idea what "filled with violence" truly looks like. You don't want to know either.

I think the black folks in Chicago and other Dim controlled shite hole cities would passionately disagree….lol

Reasonable but the interpretation I take is that it means the complete children of Israel, or the Church.

1000 means completeness, with 12 tribes and 12 apostles..

Again 12*12*1000

quote:

Because the Bible says the wages of sin is death. With each generation, the earth is more tainted with sin. The results of that cumulative sin shortened man’s lifespan.

Yes but you didn’t answer my question, is the lifespan a literal historical number or symbolic? I interpret it as symbolic, I get what the Bible is saying but I'm trying to make sense of it with what we know of man. Living 100 years is considered a long life and much more than that is considered next to impossible. Does science point to men living 900+ years? I haven't heard it doing that yet. If it does I would love to hear.

Well, there IS now a red heffer out there and the true City of David has been found so that whole Temple Mount thing is cleared and good to go...

Think of Genesis, is it a historical book, meaning people like Noah, Adam, etc. lived 900+ years, without modern medicine, or is their age more symbolic of a blessing from God because they walk in his ways. It's interesting as you go forward in genesis that the age of men gets shorter and shorter. Is that literally what happened or something symbolic?

I have 2 thoughts on this

1) pre flood, conditions on the earth were different (ie - extra layer of water surrounding the earth) which caused people to age slower and be healthier/stronger

2) God created man perfectly, and we have been devolving since the 1st original sin; which basically means that the whole "evolution theory" is one of the biggest lies ever

#2 can be a lengthy conversation in and of itself; and I actually do believe in "evolution"; or rather, in the idea that species evolve (survival of the fittest; people whose ancestors lived closer to the equator have darker skin, etc) - it is the whole "cells bumped together and turned into fish, eventually one of the fish crawled on land, which led to a monkey giving birth to the 1st human baby" theory that I find ridiculous...

So why not choose one of those to post about? What you posted is in fact rather generic and could refer to literally any time in history dating back to when it was written.

I take the Bible literally when it’s meant to be literal. If God said their life span was hundreds of years back then, I believe it to be literal.

How do you know when it's meant to be taken literally or not?

So it's just a random passage with no relevance to current times. Got it.

If the Bible says Jesus healed a leper, it’s literal.
If the Bible says Jesus is a door or we are sheep, it’s figurative, etc.

It has every relevance to our time. One would have to be blind to ignore it.

These are examples, but how did you determine that these two things are different? Where in the bible does it discuss the idea of metaphors?
