the better path would be to laugh at how pathetic they are and come up with another solution.

i think we're way past "another solution". if there is a legal method to force democrats to do something...use it.

A Texas Democratic lawmaker on Tuesday rebuffed Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) threat to arrest House Democrats who left the state in order to block the passage of an elections overhaul bill.

Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D) said she doesn’t worry about the governor’s threat to have the lawmakers arrested and hold them inside the Capitol until they “get their jobs done” because she hasn’t committed a crime.

“I don’t worry probably because I know the law, as well, and the governor knows the law, as well. I’m a criminal defense attorney and so I understand that I’ve not committed a crime, so I can’t get arrested,” Crockett said during an interview on CNN Tuesday.

Crockett added that the Texas Speaker of the House can call to have the legislators detained, however, the state has no jurisdiction outside of Texas.

“I’m not worried about the threat of being arrested. The most that can happen is that we can be detained, which is why we got out of the state. The governor of Texas has no jurisdiction outside of the state of Texas, along with [the Texas Department of Public Safety]," Crockett said

I love this.

300K in Russian Facebook Ads was "election stealing"
A few broken windows at the capital was an "insurrection"

Lawmakers going into hiding to prevent a vote on a bill they dont like. A bill thats overwhelmingly supported by the majority of Texans is what exactly?.

no shite.

dem lawmakers cant stop a law they dont like from passing, so they literally abdicate their duties and go into hiding to prevent a vote on the peoples' business.

But the majority of Texans who are upset because they support the bill are the "totalitarians".

uhhhh no it's not Abbott he'll call as many special sessions as necessary to get this to pass. So unless they plan on staying there on the tax payers dime until he's voted out or dies... Good luck. Are we really surprised Dems aren't doing their job and instead are pretending to be heroic by flying private on vacation

There is no doubt in my mind as someone who lives in Dallas... Texas Dems are FAR worse than Cali ones

The Dems are doing this for national theatre and more media support.

If Abbott actually arrests these Dems and puts them in a cell he has my vote locked.

Good.

Let's see how long Texas Democrats want to keep it up with this stunt.

Abbott and the Texas GOP has all the leverage here.

They can drag it on for months forcing Texas democrats to hang out in DC. DC is expensive and that costs money, money that they will have to file ethics reports for. And if they want to pay out of pocket for that, they're gonna burn a hole in their wallet really fast.

And eventually, they will have to come home for redistricting and if they don't, a commission will replace them and that commission is made up of entirely republicans.

Texas Democrats have no good options here.
