I think it's better to allow kids to wear their own styles and show their own individuality. Of course, a simple dress code would be fine to keep the dress within reason,

you're contradicting yourself....

I remember going to school near they Elyton PJs where I lived. I wore about the same seven pants/shirts. I was always amazed to see my neighbor kids wear Jordans, etc.

This whole notion of freedom of "expression" is laughable. So some of you would be ok if kids were allowed to were a yellow chicken costume to school, or what about a pink bunny suit like A Christmas Story. Afterall, thats just freedom of expression right? Simple dress codes or uniforms arent trampling on anybody's right of freedom. Kids are supposed to be in school to learn, not to see what everybody else is wearing.

Curiously, the feds didn't get that memo.

The push for school uniforms gained momentum in 1996 when President Clinton stated: "If it means that teenagers will stop killing each other over designer jackets, then our public schools should be able to require school uniforms." The president ordered the U.S. Department of Education to issue manuals on the efficacy of school uniforms. The manual (available on-line at the Department of Education Web site) states that school uniforms represent "one positive and creative way to reduce discipline problems and increase school safety."

That's not federal control. The federal government can suggest anything it wishes to the states. It just can't mandate it.

Kids have limited freedom of expression. Likewise, kids are limited in school.

Kids can also be very mean.

Forcing kids to wear a uniform, while limiting their already limited rights of expression (BFD, they are kids, deal with it), places kids on a more stable platform. Everyone wearing the same thing helps the poor not appear different than others in school. It is an attempt to level the field in that sense in school. Kids can not tease them about wearing certain tings if everyone is forced to wear the same thing.

Anyway, it isn't unconstitutional IMO.

That said I just read the last page and the first page.

Could it be deemed unconstitutional for a public school, which is a entity of the state, to force kids to wear certain clothes that they may not like wearing

Pick one, you can't have both
