There's nothing about this to be celebrated. Governments are not for profit institutions. If there's a budget surplus, it means Argentinian tax payers were over taxed and they should all be given a refund.

It's already been said but you couldn't have made a more asinine post.

Take a step back from your preconceived notions for one second and think of the potential benefits and safeguards a surplus may offer a Gov't.

The thought process behind govt entities needing to exhaust all their resources in a given time frame is what leads to wasteful spending.

It pales in comparison to the levels JM has actually taken. We’ve already seen a Trump presidency, do you think it was similar to JMs term?

Sure he is. He’s taken an out of control spending and mismanaged govt, shrank it and created a surplus.

To allegedly shed money that won't make a difference in the big picture while we spend more and increase deficits elsewhere.

Do they have a national debt that they need to pay down? If so, this surplus allows them to do so. A streak of surplus years will allow them to discuss tax cuts.

Their first debt is to the people of that country.

The state of Texas brags about a surplus every year, I want my property taxes back.

So Trump ran on austerity. Got it.

Let's address economic populism. Why would economic populists, who've you just said have political stances that are "antithetical" to austerity measures, vote for a president promising austerity measures?

IMO, DOGE is simply a tactic to put pressure on federal agencies that they may face cuts or elimination.

Which we know aint gonna really happen in a meaningful way.

Trump will guard the three main economic indictors like presidents always have. He's not going to allow cuts that will cause a recession, which would happen with any meaningful cuts.

Judging by the downvotes you get, it's not a "me problem".

Your property taxes stay local.

Not really if you look at the actual record. Economics they are completely different. Tariffs/trade completely different. Trump loves central planning. Milei is about as anti-statist as you can get. Milei also overwhelming supports both Ukraine and Israel.

Not a lot similar.
