Spanish spoken in Colombia and Spanish spoken in Madrid are extremely similar.
Segments of society in Mexico City also speak Spanish in a manner that is difficult to discern from Spanish spoken in Madrid.
They too are quite similar.
As for the rest of Latin America, you are correct.
