Yes a preemptive invasion of a secular Iraqi regime has so much to do with fighting terrorism.

By accepting pre-emptive war without Congressional approval, you are trusting the same people in government you distrust when it comes to every other aspect of running your life. There will always be a boogeyman around every corner, so the military contractors, defense contractors and lobbyists can continue to fleece the taxpayers blind. If you want to go to war, do it constitutionally by going to Congress and getting a declaration of war.

Measley highway and bridge contracts aren't enough anymore to satisfy the mega donors. Modern presidents have kept us in a perpetual state of war to feed the beast, and noone did it better than the bushes.

Ftr, I think hillary would have made w look like a third grader when it comes to this sort of thing. Thank god we'll never find out.

Iraq wasn't all about terrorism, dingfod. Iraq was about WMD, and violating every UN resolution they agreed to. Saddam behged and pleaded to have his arse kicked, and eventually earned the honor.

This surprises me none. The Bushes were essentially Democrats with worse foreign policy and maybe slightly less personal greed and deviancy.

Iraq - Better in 2001 or 2017?

Libya - Better in 2010 or 2017?

Syria - Better in 2011 or 2017?

Afghanistan - Better in 2001 or 2017?

Yemen - Better in 2001 or 2017?

Pakistan - Better in 2001 or 2017?

Somalia - Better in 2001 or 2017?

Our War on Terror isn't about ridding the world of terrorists. If it was, we wouldn't have deposed Saddam in Iraq and Ghaddafi in Libya, whose biggest opponents were Islamic radicals. We also wouldn't be calling for Assad's ouster in Syria. We wouldn't be giving the Saudi's billions in aid and weapons when 19 of the 20 hijackers on 9/11 were Saudi's. We wouldn't be allied with the other Gulf States, who along with Saudi Arabia export the most violent form of Islam in the world. After decades of us being involved in regional conflicts, the Middle East is more of a cauldron now than it has ever been.

Never get it.

This is a great way to look at it. I compare the wot to fighting discrimination in america. Islamists are going to Islam no matter what, and we always end up fighting fire with fire.

Right, it's not like we can't pause for a good extended debate in congress while people's lives are on the line. How often would you like to put your family's lives on the line, depending on a vote of congress?

Incidentally, how many votes of congress do you think it takes to enforce UN resolutions? Or is the world just supposed to assume that UN resolutions, and US congressional action will never have the force of the US military behind them?

Of course he did. So did his war criminal son. If you want escalated war in the Middle East, neocon Hillary Clinton is your candidate.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Trump will continue the establishment-driven agenda in the Middle East, just like establishment puppets Obama and Bush did before him.

What about those WMDs? Iraq was the worst foreign policy disaster in American history.
