I think they are more likely to hire Indian and Azns or other ethnicities...
that is what used to happen, they dont get credit for diversity in this current climate by hiring Asians or Indians. Old friend in HR at Big Blue says they have pulled out all the stops on hiring blacks worldwide so the CEO can make an announcement on progressivism and shite at EOY meetings.

And if you're in O&G you know there are nearly 0 blacks on the technical side of the biz..
negative, they just weren't usually posted in America. I worked with tons of Euro and African black engineers on the E&P side and the services side. Guy I worked with at SLB was a Chem Eng from Benin (that ironically just got laid off) in Completions.
Black guy, mid 30s, 10yrs experience, they paid to move him to the US from MEA then laid him off 2 months after he bought a house. With low utilization, some people are too expensive, black or not.

We promoted the heck out of them is my 30 plus years in the oil industry...if you could check the race and gender box both you hit the lottery...
But after mid career ....life decisions and Actual results catch up and thinned out the Demographic of next level management...

exactly, the really big companies will rely on their training, evaluation and corporate culture to weed out the under performers. So if they make an effort to hire more blacks in a few hiring classes, the keepers will rise up and the rest will get culled.

Pretty easily.
Their unbranded presence is inconsequential depending on the market.
Your problem is you have a superficial understanding of fungibility for refined products and where along the value chain the margin capture is for chevron. That’s lead you to state something retarded as fact.

Age discrimination starts at 40. There could be more lawsuits than they think.

I don't think that bodes well for Chevron. The selection of top employees should always be color and gender blind while seeking those who have the greatest merit.
Perhaps, Chevron wants to perform more like the mayors of Portland and Seattle.

1970's Feds came into my Granddad's business unannounced. Human Resources "We see that you don't have any black employees, why?" "Engineering firm and yes we have two. We have a hard time filling a vacant position now in our secretarial pool. To fill your demands we are in search of a Black Female Lesbian. If you find one send her our way."
They didn't come back.
They didn't come back.

Been going on for a long time in the oil industry ....and way deeper than what is being discussed here
When dilbert started we all assumed the creator worked as a engineer in the oil industry

Who is going to do the work?
Who do they think built the company?
Who do they think built the company?

This has been happening in the industry for a long time but Chevron is by far the most active at it. They have facilities that are dominated from the top down by a particular minority. Like more than 80%.
