Cue the "it's only a few bad ones" crowd... I'm just shocked they haven't yet tried to charge the bar owner with assaulting a law enforcement officer since he had the suspect pinned to the ground to stop him.

This isnt even close to the top100 dumbest comments here, but it still pretty stupid.

ETA: Should have read the rest of your post, your posts could be the top 100.

He, Dotson, was off duty. Not sure Morrison could be arrested for assault.

You strike me as a pot head who got busted a couple of times and now you're railing against cops

I've never touched drugs. I've never been arrested.

Officer Amber Guyger entering the wrong home, shooting a man on his own sofa, and only getting a slap on the wrist was the last straw for me. At that point I knew the system was beyond repair.

I'm guessing you loved seeing the Utah nurse assaulted by a cop because she protected her patient and wouldn't let him make an illegal blood draw.

Using your logic, you must be a communist since you seem to hate civil liberties.

A good pre-employment background investigation, polygraph exam, and psychological testing can go a long ways in thinning out nut jobs, but take time, cost money, and make it more difficult to fill pressing vacancies. I checked the PD website but couldn’t ascertain anything about their hiring process. Appears to be a small department in a rural area, so I’d be surprised if they did any of those steps prior to hiring a guy.

The kind of person who could pass those kinds of tests are not the kind of people they are looking for

A background investigation (interviews of neighbors, past employees, past spouses, checks of local criminal and civil dockets etc etc) isn’t a test they participate in, it’s an investigation; and yes, this type of person (apparent anger management issues) could absolutely be culled out through that. You don’t know if you don’t put forth the effort. As far as you saying he’d pass the other tests, you don’t know that, you’re just opining.

Not remotely true...a true conservative understands that police are necessary in a civil society and their power should be tightly held in check instead of simply dismissing their every action out of hand because it doesn't impact one directly. Basic conservative ideology means having a healthy questioning attitude about any action the state takes and holding them accountable should they abuse their authority along with a willingness to admit it is possible that they do so from time to time. Comply or die is not a conservative idea it is a beaten, down trodden idea of people who are at the mercy of the state. It is good advice, no doubt, and advice most people strive to practice but its not always possible....for example when 2 or more cops are making multiple and conflicting demands only one can be complied with...it is not possible to stay still and come here simultaneously nor is it possible to lie face down and kneel down or stay in the car and get out of the car simultaneously.....it happens often because we give cops almost unlimited power and no training and ask them to do things like deal with people suffering from obvious mental episodes when they are ill prepared to do so. It is entirely possible to support law enforcement by asking that they be given the tools needed to do their jobs, that their job be clearly defined and that they are not asked to do things they are not trained or prepared to do. That is about as pro law enforcement as one can be...it ain' got anything at all to do with all cops being bastards, it is about all cops being human beings and therefore flawed.
