Do cops get a 50% bonus when they get assigned to work the night patrol in a shitty, high crime part of the city? No because its part of the job they signed up for.
I'm sure a 50% bonus for people who've actually been able to keep their jobs and paychecks coming in is well appreciated by all the workers who've been laid off or furloughed and don't know when or even if their place of employment will ever be able to reopen
Military gets hazard duty and hostile fire pay depending on locations of deployment
extra pay isn't a far fetched idea but 50% is over the top wild.

agree that they need a bonus.
Why? Why do they need a bonus?

Why do you believe they need a bonus?

Covid isn't close to most dangerous thing ER workers, ICU workers, etc are exposed to. Doesn't their pay already assume they work with sick people?
Drama aside, it is absurd to suggest that what they are doing is similar what soldiers go through overseas. A private gets around $1700 base pay to go get shot in the face.

I'm all for individual businesses paying people whatever they see fit. Bonuses? Hazard pay? Great idea.
Now making the tax payer do it by force? Hard pass.
What is it about these assholes that don't understand the difference between willing charity and forced compliance?

Back home they call a 50% bonus "overtime".
