Meanwhile, as FEMA claims it is running short of funds for hurricane recovery efforts after Helene — though FEMA certainly was able to fund migrant resettlement efforts — we have this news item:

Mayorkas says FEMA has no more disaster funds, but IG report says agency is sitting on billions….

The agenda here is obvious to anyone without their head up their dookus. FEMA is slow-rolling aid to Western North Carolina because much of the voting demographic in that region is not a critical voting bloc to the reigning regime in Washington D.C.

Wow. So you didn't even read one of the multiple spoonfed links in this thread dealing with S&R. Instead, you saw fit to engage with an impossibly stupid strawman?

Are these civilian operators letting the ATC guys from the AF that are there as to their activities are they working with the NG and civil authorities whose job it is to conduct and execute these types of operations...or are they operating as free agents?
Had you taken the time to read links provided, you would know the answer to that.

I had a very positive experience with FEMA.

FEMA is the worst four letter F word I know.

I know a family of three that were living in their car while waiting for assistance from FEMA. That help came 10 MONTHS after the storm.

I’m certain of this, because I put them up in my my mother-in-law apartment during that time.

frick FEMA.

One of my oldest friends from growing up works in Law Enforcement in Asheville, is from Hendersonville, and lives on the eastern side of Waynesville.

Great guy, super maga, totally plugged into the situation on the ground, and finally responded to a group text yesterday.

The main thing I gathered is that they feel like they are well stocked. The overwhelming amount of donations are appreciated, but they’re at a point where they both can’t store anymore, and no more is needed. Large trucks pulling large trailers are destroying dilapidated highways. He said volunteers need to stay away at this point.

One of the major points I took away was that they are starting to get angry with a bunch of guys showing up with ATV’s looking for an Appalachian doomsday experience. People towing up donations and ATV’s are clogging up the few workable roadways and busting up compromised roads.

He didn’t go into this part very much, but claimed that they weren’t having a war with the Feds, but most S&R was being conducted by local professionals.

That’s what I got from as good of a source as you could hope for.

People would leave their job and get FEMA benefits, SNAP, and unemployment. People would go to the Casino a little before midnight spend what was on their card and then use the refill at midnight.
Who are these "people"?
Why are these "people" not in jail?

Seriously, I have ZERO doubt "people" scam these situations. If those "people's" scams cause (or excuse) hardship for victims, the solution is to make such public examples of them that even the scummiest "people" would shy away from similar activity in the future.

If you say so. Of course you're right. Do you have any documented proof of this, did you film this? Did you see this in action, I mean you're so close.
Ooooh my!

This is exactly what I was referring to. Stop taking your enormous trucks dragging heavy trailers up compromised roads. They’re stocked, and you’re doing more harm than good.

They need those roads more than they need your donations at this point.

NO!
Sorry!

Because "exactly what you were referring to" is not happening according to FEMA

What?

What part?

I’m saying that locals and local law enforcement, fire, and S&R, want people to stop coming with donations and ATV’s because these people are using roads and highways that are compromised and they can’t afford to lose any more.

I don’t think you’ve read anything I’ve posted.

Everything I’ve posted has been from the point of view of a local who works in law enforcement.

I don’t know anything from the federal side, but I do know that locals would like people to stop playing hero and pulling heavy trailers full of things they’re already stocked with and ATV’s up busted up roads that they desperately need to not get busted up further.

It sounds like FEMA should be redirecting them prior to reaching that point.

Someone is failing.
