Audit military spending and make sure we aren’t paying 5000 dollars for a simple screw driver, for example.

Reduce welfare fraud. One thing that can be done is to require a government-issued photo ID to be shown whenever an EBT card is used. If I have to present an ID whenever I use a credit card, why doesn't the same apply to EBT cards?

Social Security is one of (if not the biggest) abuse with its expansion that covers "emotional" and "behavorial" issues. Google "crazy checks".

Raise the age for Medicare and SSI by 5 years over the next 20, with anyone 40+ grandfathered in.

End all active military operations in Central Asia and North Africa.

Start sending every citizen an itemized list, every month, of the money and services spent by or for their Senators and Representatives. Make them accountable to the voters for every staffer, every lunch, every fricking paper clip.

This is only part of the story. Current projected deficit is $600 billion per year. As a point of context it was about $1.4 trillion in Obama's first year...he cut it in half and now Trump proposes to increase it by 15%. My kids and grandkids will be paying the price for our inability to get our financial business in order.

Cut foreign subsidies by half, congressional staff by 10%, wipe out the dept of energy, education and the EPA.

I think I'm well North of 100 billion there.

1. Start reducing our military presence in Europe, make France, Germany and the rest of the EU spend their 2% to defend themselves.

2. Allow Japan to rearm and take a bigger roll in defending our allies in Asia.

3. Legalize drugs and prostitution.

4. Stop spending on medicaid and medicare fraud

I just saved the US a shitload more than $100 billion.

Legalize marijuana and start a United States Lottery, all proceeds earmarked to Social Security.

Bring in outside auditors and let them look into every single department for waste and fraud. Then actually do something about it.

Fair tax or flat tax, then get rid of most of the IRS.

Fold Homeland Security back into the departments from whence it came, and lay off the people we don't need.

Get the government out of the student loan business, period. Get the government out of the housing business too. Let the private sector handle both.

Kick the UN out of this country and tell those clowns we are OUT.

Pull our military out of most countries, especially anywhere we aren’t wanted. 10% across the board cut for every federal agency.

Flat tax abolish IRS
ATF gone
TSA gone
DEA gone

Obliterate the Shadow Government which includes the CIA and the Military Industrial Complex, get rid of the IRS and go to the Fair Tax. Cut the perks for Congress, They are supposed to be public servants, and need to start acting like it. This is just the tip of the iceberg. There is so much damn waste and corruption.

Easy - drop the F35 program and two carrier groups.

$406.5 billion

quote:

The newest carrier, the U.S.S. Gerald R. Ford, to be commissioned next year, cost $12.8 billion. Add the costs of the air wing, the support of five surface-combat ships and one attack submarine, and 6,700 sailors. The bill for operating a carrier group: $2.5 million a day. China, says Hendrix, could build more than 1,200 of its premier anti-ship missiles for the cost of one Ford carrier, and one of the 1,200 could achieve “mission-kill,” removing the carrier from the fight for months.

Multiply by two. We'd still have more carrier groups than the rest of the world combined.

That would be strategically idiotic.

We need to attack Medicare and SS before we touch the defense budget. It was already cut quite a bit from 2008- 2016.

We've cut the DoD budget year over year by a ton over the last decade, yet the federal deficit and growth of the federal debt both keep outpacing economic growth and inflation.

So, yea - Medicare and Social Security need to be cut.

A lot.

You have no other choice.

Let me put this in a way your slow mind might understand: you could cut the defense budget in half, and we'd still run a deficit. Capiche?

Actually carrier groups are idiotic. Even the National Review thinks so. Perhaps the F35 wouldn't be if it were practical.

Money spent like that might as well be flushed down a toilet.

Carrier groups are fine. The National Review isn't some foreign policy sage, and they are wrong here. Having a deployable MAGTF in the six COMs alone is worth its weight in gold, never mind the rest of the force projection.

Do the math. We have 11 CSG's, and only about half of those are deployable at any one time. Who is going to peel the shite when American interests are threatened in the eastern Med or the Straight of Hormuz or the Strait of Malacca or the Philippines or Japan or Mexico or any number of other valuable trade regions in this highly interconnected world of ours? I'll give you one hint: it's the CSG's. The OPTEMPO for every single strategic military asset is stretched as thin as it could possibly be right now.

Defense spending in both real and absolute terms has been cut and cut over the last decade, yet the deficit and debt has barely been dented, and the debt has, in fact, still grown, by a lot. It's doubled since 2008 and has still grown since 2012 when we really started taking the knife to military spending. Medicare and Social Security haven't been touched. Not at all. Those two are your primary drivers, by far, and yet they hardly ever get mentioned. Give me a plan about those two, and I might start coming to the table on everything else.

1. Paul Ryan plan for Medicare
2. Block grant Medicaid
3. Raise Social Security age to 70 and index to inflation
4. Any efficiency you can find, enact it. Coburn had a great set of recommendations a few years ago that would save billions
5. Eliminate HUD, block grant its funds, along with elimanating other smaller agencies
6. Ratify Balanced Budget Amendment
