Playing an event and playing in a new league are different

Saudi Arabia is paying inordinate amount of money to high profile people that they will never ever recover. So why do you think they are spending that money?
It’s called sports washing and people are eating it up. It’s what China is doing with the nba. These athletes are now spokespersons for these countries
I find it’s hilarious that the same people ripping on lebron and the nba about China are now saying the pga tour are the ones in the wrong. Long live the LIV tour
Originally I was on the same line of thought as you. That is, until people that pay more attention to golf than myself pointed out - Saudi money has been in golf FOR YEARS. It is only now they have their own league, ppl are butt hurt because they are told to be.
Their investments in ventures on the European Tour, LPGA, and World Golf Championships was all ok and now all of a sudden its blood money and sports washing.
I think its good for the game since the athletes make guaranteed money instead of traveling week after week without a promise of profit unless they have the sponsors to cover everything (most pro golfers do not).
Now, the PGA wants to play the monopoly card and try to pressure the majors into disallowing these players, just because they dont want to pay the players more out of their pocket.
Seems like the PGA Tour, which brings in as much money as other professional sports, could at least afford guaranteed money to anyone that is good enough and willing to put in the work it takes to make it to the pro tour.

that pay is directly tied to their performance.
Not with LIV. Pat Perez shot an 80 finished 34th and raked in 900K. It's the Upward version of professional golf. Will not be sustainable.

You miss the mark
It is a league with 48 players
That is less than one football team. There is zero advancement. There thousands of aspiring pros but, yeah, let’s stop all that to watch mickelson shoot 80
