One math problem I’ve noticed about the split: many church congregations that voted to promote LGBT, presumably by at least 51%, are now seeing attendance of 25% of their prevote attendance.
What happened to the missing 25%?

Trash and dash. That’s my guess.

You can find a church that lives by the Word of God, but the most important thing in a church is living for prayer. A church that doesn’t emphasize prayer and talking to God is dead. I’m back in TX after leaving the state for 2 yrs. Came into a different town and wasted 3 yrs. @ a non-praying church that eventually lost the pastor that didn’t want to pastor any longer. Moved to a church that emphasizes prayer and every other month opens the doors from 7am to 8pm on Monday for prayer. Around 500+ show up to pray. Doing 2 services every Sunday averaging 2200 in the services and about 1500 in Sunday School. Pastor has been here for 40 years.
So they are out there you just gotta do as the Word says “Seek and ye shall find”

As my man Geno Jennings says, "If it ain't Bible, it ain't right"

We did the same a few years ago. I was raised in the UMC, but became increasingly disillusioned with their political bullshite. We ultimately decided that we absolutely refused to raise our kids in the current UMC environment, which is pushing lifestyles that contrast with our beliefs.
Lots of people are “Christians” until they’re forced to open their bibles.
And I’m sorry for your loss — bc it is a loss. Your church let you down due to a takeover by a faction of leaders with an agenda, and that’s a tough pill to swallow.
If it makes you feel any better, we found a new place to worship, full of flawed, imperfect people, who know they’re worshipping a perfect Savior. And we haven’t looked back.
Praying for you.

Sounds like you and your family need a fresh start. Like I said previously there are some great churches with pastors who care about the people that are there. Find one that will not compromise Gods word for the sake of growing the church.

Being a gentile grafted into the vine and trusting in Jesus will do just fine.

If the United Methodist Church wants to help people who are outside the church (unbelievers) that’s great. Go out into the communities to show others love and help others receive the Word of God.
But Sunday should be all about the Word of God, doing God’s will. Not bending to what the society praises (lgbtq and watered down doctrines).
Bring the people from outside into the church so that they may live by God’s Word.
I had to leave the UMC (the church I grew up in) and I am trying my best not looking back. Sorry my rant.
Our family goes back generations to the Methodist church but the family has been non denominational/evangelical for 30-40 years.

Yes, I am leaving because the UMC does not follow Christian doctrine.
I went this route and found none of them follow Christian doctrine or any kind of good doctrine at some point.
They're all corrupt. I go to Catholic Mass daily now and see that God is always good even when individuals are hideous.
Including myself, people are not always good. But God, Christ and the Virgin Mary always are.
They always supply our needs even when we don't deserve it.

Our church unanimously voted to separate from UMC couple of years ago. We are now with Global Methodist.

This is my struggle. I don’t care for people up in my business. So I mainly catch online services. One of my bigger issues is how churches have let themselves go, and don’t hold people responsible to respecting The House of God.
People dressed like they are going to the mall, or pickup coffee. Hats. Drinking their water/coffee, etc. I grew up with nothing deserves more respect than church, so I just sit there distracted looking at people being disrespectful.

I know that feeling. I commend you for continuing on.

Thanks. It’s so tough. I grew up getting the stink eye from dad if I put my foot up on the back of the pew in front of us. I’m not saying put on a suit but at least slacks and a collared shirt.

When we respect others, we show we are respecting ourselves. And vice versa.

how do you fellowship? I ask this having sat out at my own church for probably a year now and struggle with knowing I am called to and need, fellowship.
