It's recognizing that what MAGA voted for is not what MAGA is getting. That is, MAGA as defined at the time of the election of Trump. Right now the Lindsay Graham wing of the GOP is winning bigly. But the definition MAGA is changing. It was either yesterday or Monday that Trump said "MAGA is me and MAGA is doing great" (or something to that effect).
What sucks is the juxtaposition of the Administration ability to execute international military actions with extreme efficiency but one blue haired liberal female and another male with pronouns in his bio can bring down ICE in Minneapolis. Make it make sense.

I've been saying that for years. It sure as hell isn't a set of political principles.

My PSA to MAGA people would be...
You don't have to have a hard opinion on this. You can simultaneously say this isn't what you voted for, that American intervention in the region is typically a cluster of quagmires, etc. while also acknowledging that there are some very meritorious (specific and macro) arguments this may have been a gutsy, monumental and potentially correct call by Trump.
That's where I'm at. We all know our feelings on this are in many ways going to be outcome dependent. And that's fine.

MAGA is getting exactly what MAGA voted for.
A guy who:
1. Cares nothing for political principles
2. Says and does whatever strikes him on any given day, even if it's 180 degrees opposite what he said or did the day before
3. Isn't concerned about the Constitution (in fact, sees it as a nuisance)
4. Isn't concerned about Congress or the Judicial Branch or anybody else who might disagree with what he wants to do
5. A guy who acted aggressively toward Iran (and Syria) during his first administration
6. A guy whose personal ego drives many of his actions and almost all of his communication
7. A guy who got shot in the head and responded by yelling "Fight!"
When you idolize someone specifically because they are unencumbered by traditions, legal considerations, decorum, political principles, and even his own proclamations, you can't then turn around and say he's acting out of character when it comes to this Iran thing.
He's absolutely not. He's acting exactly like Trump. This is exactly what MAGA voted for.

This is where I am at as well.
I am skeptical and feel like we are being lied to (maybe for legitimate reasons?) and have no idea how people can think this will be over in a mtter of weeks.
At the same time I recognize fortune favors the bold, and this is bold as hell. There are, as you say, reasons to believe this may work out pretty well.

No. What were the Nazis writing books about?
You’re working with some weird dualistic argument that just doesn’t fit the facts. I know you’re studiously trying to avoid it.

I can tell you’re smart because you think like me.
