Israel should do what it feels is necessary to protect itself and its citizens. But it should do that without one dime from the American treasury and with zero expectation that we will reflexively support them.

That’s crazy talk man! They are God’s chosen people and since the holocaust happened we are never allowed to question their government. They are right 100% of the time because God said so!

It seems like most things our government concerns itself with provides no tangible benefit to the average American. Our whole government is just a big dog and pony show that exists to enrich politicians and their friends.
wtf did you do with 4chubbies?

We are just about the only country on Israel’s side right now. The world sees what’s going on over there and it’s what Charlie Kirk started talking about. Netanyahu is a war criminal. He allowed Hamas to slaughter his people for 6 hours before responding in order to justify what he’s doing now and drag us into it.
Hamas may have lost the battle but they definitely won the won propaganda war

I couldn’t care less about Gaza. Same goes for Israel. But 20,000 dead children is 20,000 dead children.
And we want to tout humanity for Israel?

I also believe objectively that the best thing the US could do would be to stop putting itself in a position where we are interjecting ourselves into other nations conflicts that go back millennia
Israel in its current state and structure has not existed for millenia though. That's the trick. It was established in the 20th century.

A nuke on Manhattan, KS wouldn't kill a million people. Manhattan also isn't the birthplace of your savior. (ETA, I know Jesus wasn't born in Jeru, but you get the point)

You could rename it ignorant syndrome. Just look at the exact ideas on this topic shared by far left lunatics and “moderate conservatives”

I think Israel has gone totally overboard in Gaza, but I don't really have a problem with people saying the people of Gaza FAFO.
I mostly can't stand AIPAC's influence on our politicians.
I think some of the Trump administration's moves with throwing out foreign students and the like for wrongthink about Israel are not MAGA/America First.
It's also difficult not to notice some things about the old school neocon scumbags.

quote:That’s nonsense. All of my friends in my circle are Christians and I have never heard of them putting Israel first. Small group sample but think probably representative of our overall feelings of our generation. I challenge to find a survey they put together Israel first.
For a way too large part of that generation if they will be honest with themselves, they believe in Israel First, not America First. They would intercept a N-ICBM headed for Jerusalem over one headed to Manhatten, Kansas if they had to make the choice.

It’s endlessly frustrating to me as well.
Israel the current country is not the same thing as the Israel in the Bible, even down to its borders. It makes me nuts that any criticism of Israel as a political entity is somehow antisemitism or even weirder unchristian. Israel’s government does some shitty stuff that merits criticism.
It doesn’t even mean that I’m somehow on the side of Hamas or “Palestine” whatever TF that means, or that I want Gaza children to die or starve or whatever. If I were the current government of Israel - I could see wanting to win the war against Gaza or Hamas or whatever.
When it comes down to it, and if I had to pick sides, I’m on team Israel- but the bajillions of dollars we send them - aren’t necessary and I don’t think we should do it. They’re our ally, not our 51st state.

Mark would react to this reasonable opinion with a high pitch screed accusing you of being funded by Qatar (and you looking at him saying to yourself, "I wish I were"). Ben would respond with 2,800 word fast paced explanation that you are right but you are only right if we can cut social security to fund Israel.
