I will agree that prolonging our entry into Afghanistan was a mistake.
However, this debacle has nothing to do with being there so long. It's entirely down to how the withdrawal was handled. It's a complete FUBAR.

I disagree in that we should have ever been there. It makes me sick to think of the young men and women who gave their lives and limbs there and in Iraq during these engagements. Joe Biden absolutely takes blame for what’s going on. To the extent he even knows what’s going on. But we have to wake up and realize the only reason we were ever there is the MIC controlling both parties. Who stood to gain from us going there? Who stands to gain from this shity exit? MIC
