Republicans, in a show of bipartisanship and brotherhood, are known to appoint members of the opposing party to chair positions in the occasional committee to show that they are fair. (They actually do this because they are controlled opposition who have no desire to take any responsibility for the well-being of the nation and they'd have no idea how to run things if they were actually required to be anything more than a vocal minority opposition party.)
