Traffic must really be an issue in Baton Rouge. Most of their fans leave well before the end of games regardless of the sport.

There is an element of truth to this. The hand-wringing over the last 8 weeks and the constant shouts at the market and oil prices are just noise.
Those wedded to Trump's failure have been mentally masturbating for weeks. The reality is that as of today, the market has been basically flat for the duration. Some probably jumped ship and lost money and the spec traders swapped cash, but the reality is that the market is up 3% YTD and 27% for the year. Oil is off the panic bubble and hovering at ~$82ish.
What has been accomplished? Substantial damage was done to Iran's military capability and much of their senior leadership has been eliminated. I don't really know too much about the new boss; there was speculation that he might not be alive as he had not been seen publicly. That may have changed and I missed it.
Is the new regime (and make no mistake, it is a collection of new players) more reasonable than the last? Will it abandon its nuclear ambitions? Hard to say at this point, but I guess we will find out soon enough.

I hit just about every mainstream feed every morning: NPR, AP News, CNN, ABC and Fox. Headline comparisons are a hoot.

I'm not sure these epic rivalry games aren't a thing of the past. Almost every game is streamed now. Back in the day, you got a couple of televised games on a Saturday. OU/Nebraska, USC/Notre Dame, OSU/Michigan, etc. were sort of national games.
I'm just not sure that's true anymore. Hell, I watched A&M in a midweek game against Texas State last week. I'm sure there were dozens of us..
