Inflammatory opening statement. 4 pages and no reply from OP. Outstanding troll. I'm healthy but I wear a mask cause everyone else is doing it. I feel social pressure.

fricking do it. Just remember some people are wearing it for other reasons than their own youth and health.

Someone asked me about wearing a mask this morning after my dentist appt when I was at the store today.

My employer is considered essential as we generate power as well as critical chemicals. My place in there is critical and the company asked us to wear them when out if possible.

Being as they pay my salary AND have been great through this whole thing (including giving a bonus) I respect them and my job enough to comply.

My father is also elderly and has high blood pressure and is a diabetic due to a weakend pancreas.

You keep doing you though. You're so edgy.

Yep, the mask for healthy or folks not at risk has become the new Burka, a religious adornment to let the other zealots know you are down with the program

Liberty works both ways.

I am not a fan of the mask policy, but folks do have a right to wear one if they choose.

Some 20 and 30 years olds may be residents working in a critical care unit who were exposed to large volume aerosols regularly. They may be wearing a mask out of concern to expose anyone else (I understand the science behind this is shaky, but public perceptions may matter to these folks when they are in public given the way the political winds are blowing).

No need to do this...they might have other circumstances in play. My 83 year old father lives with me so I don't want to subject him to any more risk that necessary. Don't get me wrong, I am not a covid-19 chicken little, but I am reasonable and don't want to be stupid. I will leave that to those prisoners trying to get it the other day.

See my post above...this is an assumption about any given person's situation. The mask thing and rationale for wearing it is not a "one size fits all" by any means. I honestly don't let it bother me in that vein...

Coronavirus is a fake, gay Illuminati hoax. Unironically.

I wore one for the first time today in the office and felt weird about it.

But I also have a four month old baby at home and would never forgive myself if something happened to her because I was too cool.

Why do you care? Isn't a core tenet of conservatism wanting people off your back and not regulating you? If they choose to wear, let them.

I've found the most mask free demographic. When I pull into a gas station/convenience store at 6 am there are always working guys who pull up to fill their trucks and get some coffee and a honey bun before heading out for the job. They range in age from 20s to 50s. NONE of them wear masks.

Adam Carolla has articulately covered this point. Men who work with their hands routinely use tools that could kill them if used incorrectly. They are constantly having to make decisions of efficiency vs safety. They arent afraid of a virus that kills 1 out of 10000 people in their demographic when they must fire up a table saw that could kill or maim them in a millisecond.

Its the people who work behind computers or in completely safe environments who are mortally afraid of covid.

That would be the govt off your back. I think society could use a healthy dose of shaming those making irrational decisions.

Just make sure you thank them when they open a door for you.

Strange thing to ridicule someone about but I'm not surprised. That'll show 'em.

Did you ever stop to think maybe they're not worried about themselves, but other people?

Look, I think this whole thing is way overblown, but my parents and certain coworkers are definitely at risk (one of my coworkers has beaten cancer four times and I don't want this to be the thing that takes her out).

I'm honesty not worried if I get it since I'm young and in good shape, but I'm fine wearing a mask around other people so I don't spread it to someone who could be severely impacted by it.
