There are other agencies who are already armed to handle such criminal cases. There is no need for IRS agents to have arms.

You’re conflating auditors with special agents.

IRS Special Agents have always been armed. Auditors are not armed.

There are only about 2,000 special agents. They are not hiring 87,000 more. Politicians are simply inciting their base.

I’m no more afraid of the IRS than I am of local cops when I jaywalk in front of them. I’ve underpaid my taxes. They contacted me about it and brought the error to my attention. I saw my error, corrected it, and submitted proper payment. Problem solved.

I’m not about to let any politician get me whipped up over increased Treasury enforcement. We should be blaming these cocksucking politicians for not changing the tax code to be simpler so that it reduces complexity which leads to errors.

If they want to increase revenue, they should not be increasing enforcement, but embracing the Fair Tax, which leads to more taxpayers actually paying a tax.

And let's not think for a minute that Amazon won't share the data laying out peoples home with them, that they collect from their new acquisition Rumba.

People need to be careful with "being connected" to everything via the IoT push. From cars to Alexa and your rumba the govt will have access to everything if they want to find something.

Basically they're hiring more positions over 10 years than they currently have.

So the IRS will double in size. Anyone not alarmed is a moron. They clearly state what they are coming after.

Don’t lose sight of the fact that politicians are fundraisers. They are going with this narrative of 87,000 IRS Agents because it gins up their re-election coffers.

We would not be having this conversation if these bastards had done their jobs and revamped the tax code in a way that could have easily abolished or reduced the size of the IRS.

Just as Democrats create slaves for their plantation, so too do Republicans. When you hear Republican politicians bitching about this increase in Treasury enforcement, don’t forget to also hold them accountable for enabling the conditions that led to this.

I’m sure there are quite a few agents that would love to raid my home after some of the letters I have sent them on behalf of clients smashing them for their failure to understand their own rules.

Understood

I don't think any sane person hopes it comes the feds coming to "confiscate them by force". At least I don't. No winning that battle.

I'm not basing anything on what an individual politician says. I don't care too much for talking heads or elected officials.

I can understand the legislation though, and realize that doubling the size of the IRS while increasing the tax burden is a terrible thing for this country. If you read the legislation, its clear they're obfuscating.

The IRS will grow 15% (capped) a year over a decade. They're not just after the wealthy or business owner.

Does anyone recall that at the end of Obama's term, the Democrats agenda was to federalize local police? That talk died when Hillary lost in 2016.

I suspect that the Democrats came up with a new gameplan knowing the uphill battle they would have to federalize all police across the country. I believe the IRS is their way around this.

Those 87,000 new IRS jobs will be a new "police force" that is not hindered by FBI restrictions and not under the direction of the DOJ. The IRS agents are under the command of the IRS Commissioner who is under the Treasury, the same as the Secret Service. The President and the WH can direct this new IRS police force without the backlash of interfering with the DOJ/FBI policies and investigations.

Now, how bad could this be? Recall how Obama used the IRS to go after political opponents? He used the IRS to bankrupt Republicans supporters going into the 2012 election. He forced conservative organizations to spend valuable money and time defending themselves instead of promoting conservative campaigns. He had the IRS target conservative based on IRS rules and policies and not based on law and constitutional rights. The same IRS rules that are established by the WH and implemented by IRS appointees without any congressional advice and consent. The IRS can make up their enforcement rules as they please, until a Judge tells them they can't and then they can still do it without retribution for years.

When the government can't indict someone for a criminal crime they try to use the IRS for a tax violation. As example see Capone and see all the investigations of Trump that are based on his business practices, ie. taxes.
