No one here is upset about Maduro being ousted. All you see are concerns for what comes next. Acting like that's unreasonable is what makes the poliboard the poliboard.
It is why I describe this place as a Trumpist pep rally, rather than a think tank.

Your being obtuse… this WILL happen in Venezuela… how is it not inevitable if we send troops in???… Venezuela responsible for a very small amount of international drug trafficking… they don’t sponsor terrorism in the US… so this is about oil Trump said as much

I didn't see all of that. I will be honest, I think women running any country, especially one during a regime change, are disasters waiting to happen.

Our best hope would be for an El Salvador or Argentina-like result with a Javier Milei or Nayib Bukele type taking over

Under the what comes next category:

I doubt you'll see much enthusiasm from big oil to make the multi billion dollar CAPEX investment necessary to get the energy infrastructure up and running. Oil in the $50/barrel range and an administration pushing cheap energy just don't think it'll happen that easily.

Explain how this is about oil. Be specific. There is a correct answer here, but I doubt you understand what it actually is.

It doesn’t matter. A certain number of folks here just like to ascribe beliefs you simply don’t hold.

It’s lazy and pathetic but happens daily.

Well, I suppose that "95%" IS "a certain number."

Every bit of that retort was vague, purposefully misleading and attempting to redirect.

Hank, I don’t think your number is based on empirical evidence.

He averages about 120-125 posts per day. He's only about 18 in. Unfortunately he's just getting started today.

Set the royalty level payable to Venezuela low-enough, and US oil companies will "develop" the Hell out of it.

Is it feasible at 25%? Probably not. Ten percent? Maybe so.

And the US is currently in the position to dictate that royalty level.

On this we agree. You seem to have already concluded this will be the outcome based on previous involvements. Trump has demonstrated he will not act based solely on the advice of the John Bolton’s of the world much to their chagrin. So I’ll say again, he has earned some patience.

That will require the new regime in Venezuela to bend the knee. The question is what happens if they don't.

They don’t have much of a choice. China in particular can’t risk further escalation.

Don’t need to be specific because none of us know… but my guess is this hurts Russia in the long run… by allowing countries other options for crude and diesel… our refineries run more efficiently with the crude out of Venezuela… these just guesses… the real reason is future oil profits
