quote:Abolishing net neutrality gives the ISPs control over the content you view, which limits freedom for the consumer. The monopolies will still exist. They will just exist with even more power. Almost no one who actually understands the internet was in favor of abolishing net neutrality except for those who were paid off or enjoy limiting people's freedom.

I love how you people are dumb enough to put your faith in this guy:
He’s taking power AWAY from himself
On the flip side I find it mind boggling that people want the government to have control over the internet when a guy like Trump was elected

Considering some of the biggest scumbags I’ve ever met are lawyers, yeah so? If anything, that’s a point in my favor that he’s a pathological liar.
He’s mocking all the idiots out there like you who are going along and giving the people that do know what is going on the middle finger. The entire guy’s personality is fake. He’s not your buddy. He’s a rabid dog that is about to rip your intestines out through your a-hole.

Actually, they are saving me money. I'm not sure how they are fricking me over when my combined internet, directv, and phone bill went from $318/month to $210/month. Not to mention my internet services is 10 times better now, and i now have unlimited data on my phone. The free market won in my house last week.

No it doesn’t. Even if Say Comcast decides to just block Netflix couldn’t i use a wireless carrier? Not everyone would just block site randomly. Netflix offers original content there is no more business reason for Comcast or AT&T or whoever to just block that than for them to block ESPN or HBO.

And the solution is the same for all products that one determines is "screwing" them. Don't by the product.

Yeah buddy. You get rid of the internet and tell me how it goes for you

This.
It's easy to stop paying for bad service. When's the last time you were able to just stop paying taxes because of bad/misuse of government services? One is controllable by the consumer, one is enforced under penalty of fines/jail.

Well they have been proven to do it before and now that its not illegal im not sure why they would stop?
The same reason that any other consumer product is--in part-- under the control of the consumer. If they become prohibitive in cost, simply don't buy their product. Another provider of the product will use that as an opportunity to get your business.

He could just switch providers.

Ah okay. So just because something hasn't happened that mean it won't happen. No need to analyse changing circumstances and evaluate pros and cons of how you do things. Interesting.
Posted on 12/14/17 at 4:54 pm to Dale51
What if there isnt another provider?
Posted on 12/14/17 at 4:55 pm to BugAC
Some people dont have that option. In fact lots dont
