quote:There’s only one problem. The NRA appears to be is incorporated in VA. If a state SOS can dissolve a corp in another state that’s news to me. That going to be news to a LOT of people.
Of course they can. Almost every state has judicial dissolution for LLCs, and certainly most states can revoke corporate charters as well, for multiple reasons.

Life member already but the NRA has some issues.
Been a life member for years. I quit sending them money though because they constantly begged for it.

Some changes are definitely needed but it is better than not being around.

What is one single thing the NRA has done to protect gun rights? What is one piece of anti-gun legislation that they have gotten overturned?

I used to be an NRA member. Still give to CATO but stopped giving to the ACLU some years ago.
I would have given double the money to the NRA if they would've just stopped sending me creepy mail. I swear they have some agreement with gold, prepping, and reverse mortgage companies. Not that anything is wrong with those but I didnt want all that glossy mail showing up at my address.

I have been a life member since them 90s. Considering this as well now.
A few years ago anti-NRA BS caused my sister and BIL to become life members as well.
This could well back fire.

I'm not sure if you're just making stuff up, or you're repeating things you've heard without confirming them, but you're just objectively wrong on facts.
NRA says on its website: "After being granted a charter by the state of New York on November 17, 1871, the NRA was founded."

I’m glad she reminded me to renew. I just can’t make myself pull the trigger on $1500 for lifetime. I typically just do 5 year renewals.

I'll stick with the GOA, I think. The NRA has been much more about power and money than defending the 2A, for a long time now. My state got constitutional carry DESPITE the NRA, instead of with their help and influence.
And there is no fricking way any legitimate Second Amendment defender is in bed with the likes of Harry Reid.
And why the hell would you still be chartered in New York City in 2020, to highlight the fact that for decades, you have been unable to accomplish what people have given you millions of dollars to do?

They obviously have more than one entity. Because they certainly have one in VA. LINK to VA's SCC
So tell us again how the NY SOS is going to dissolve the entire NRA?

The NRA-ILA still does some good things, so if one was to donate that’s where some good can be done.
But I’m not re-uping till that POS Wayne “suits” LaPierre is gone. Made the org a shell of its former self for personal gain. GOA till then. Bring on the downvotes lol.

Wayne LaPierre is Jim and Tammy Faye combined
NRA is adrift under his leadership.
The organization is just an ATM
Who knew that Ollie North was right?

You don't know how to read these reports. Regardless of where you're incorporated, you have to file with the Secretary of State in every state where you transact business. Notice on the page that you linked to where it says "Jurisdiction: NY" This means it's a NY corporation that has registered to do business in VA.
You can play this game with probably any state in America. Here's the listing from Kansas ( LINK), but notice how, just like VA, it states it's a NY corporation:
Current Entity Name
Business Entity ID Number
NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA
4327250
Current Mailing Address: 11250 Waples Mill Road, FAIRFAX, VA 22030
Business Entity Type: FOREIGN NOT FOR PROFIT
Date of Formation in Kansas: 07/06/2009
State of Organization: NY
Current Status: ACTIVE AND IN GOOD STANDING

So 149 years later this DA has learned that the NRA is fraudulently founded?
What a fricking joke

No, under NY law, they can revoke if its was fraudulently found or if the AG establishes that it has "conducted or transacted its business in a persistently fraudulent or illegal manner, or by the abuse of its powers contrary to the public policy of the state has become liable to be dissolved" NY Business Code Section 1101
