The literal opposite is true.

Tariffs lead to loss of innovation.

So democrats...yes...they contributed to the ills of this nation.

Barely any of these people are bureaucrats. They are workers. And now they are paying the price for the malfeasance in Congress and the Executive. There is no way to describe this but as an injustice and as evil.

Retire, not fire. That has always been the solution here.

This happens in the private sector all the time.

Govt workers should not be insulated from losing their job just because it hurts people's feelings.

And "free" benefits shouldn't be guaranteed when we can't afford it. Protect Medicare and SS for those that actually paid in. All the rest can migrate to charities if they don't want to work for their keep.

This sledge hammer approach appeals to the red meatMAHA crowd, but it’s a lazy and unjust means to a murky end. The long term consequences could create even more inefficiency or lack of
competency at the federal level.

You mean the fork in the road that hasn’t been approved for funding? There’s no guarantee that the employees that took the offer will even see that money.

What are you talking about that money is already allocated to their current position and we will save 4 months pay for the year so by firing them and giving 8 months pay the fed still saves 25% of what they would have had to pay these asshats.

A court is likely to un-do these firings or say the deadline was arbitrary, too short for consideration, etc. And it was a short deadline. There wasn't time for people to make informed decisions. These people are going to sit at home and we're likely to pay them a full salary for that time.

WTF are you talking about? Do you think something like this has never happened before? Let me pop your bubble, it has and it’s legal. Maybe you’re relying on an activist judge to lawfare? but you don’t mention that, you just say moronic things that you’ve never bothered to fact check.

We all face this reality working for private companies. It’s about time government workers learned about how it really feels to worry about job security, which they never have had to do

How many people lost careers and worse over vaccine mandates? Did anybody on that side give one single solitary fk?

Jesus

People get laid off all the time. It happens. It sucks, but it happens.

The good ones will find good landing spots, the bad ones, well, I guess we need fry cooks, too.

No tears from me. The federal government has given away private sector jobs for decades with their policies.

So you think the Constitution provides protection from being fired or gives you a set amount of warning time?! Seriously, you are not bright

While I tend to agree with the sentiment, the problem is we've gone far too long trying to let the inefficient bureaucratic system manage it and nothing will get accomplished if we continue to let the system operate as is.

A sledgehammer was needed to induce change, and thats a byproduct of a shitty system that we let fester far too long.

Absolutely disagree here. I don't think you can get anymore inefficient than our current Gov't. There will be collateral damage for sure, but it's better in the long run IMO.

With all the illegal aliens getting deported there should be plenty of jobs avaliable. I hope they know how to pick fruit, cut yards, or shingle roofs. Shouldn't be hard to learn though.

Isn't the funding already approved since you are just paying their salaries? The government fiscal year goes October - September I believe. That's when the buyouts were set to end.

POTUS has assured me that the Constitution protects government workers from being fired. Private sector workers can be treated like dogs and fund their bloated pensions, that’s ok

If we are going to have a large section of the population unemployed, I'd rather they be governmental employees than productive citizens.

I believe many of the ones so far are probationary workers so I dont think they would have gotten the eight months, so probably why they were hanging on.

You may be right about that.
