Just ignore the $11 million in PPP loans they took, though!

Gird your loins, but I’ll bet they also claim deductions on their tax returns.

It’s almost like they don’t want to give more money to the government than is required of them by law.

What does their PPP funding have to do with this in any way?

If they were willing to take $11 million, then they shouldn't really have a leg to stand on to bitch about anything. They ran to the system as soon as they could and benefited from it greatly.

Also, if they were willing to take PPP loans it's a pretty safe bet they passed the tariff expenses onto the consumer so they weren't the ones actually paying and aren't due a refund.

It's just rather amazing to see people who benefited from the system to the tune of $11 million free dollars now demanding money back from said system for tariffs they likely didn't pay.

I’ve never met one individual or business owner who wants to pay money to the government, much less illegally collected money. If the government fricked up your taxes and you overpaid, you’d want it back—would you not?

Oh, so you mean their consumers paid them? Who would have ever thought that. I was told for months that I was an idiot for pointing out that all businesses in all sectors would pass the costs on to Americans.

I dont many people who got $11 million free dollars from the Government then got on a soap box bitching about the system that benefited them. Do you?

It's a good thing cheap toys from China aren't a necessity.

Why? These two things have nothing to do with each other. Other than they are both Trump era business giveaways.

Welcome to the real world. People don’t lock the doors when the government money gun is firing full blast.

They may not be due a refund, but they are more entitled to it then the government who took it illegally. Perhaps the treasury department can deposit the revenue into a trust account and let claimants come forward as with many funds set up for restitution.

Hey...we want to manufacture cheap shite in China and bring as little value to the USA as we can, but when the USA is giving away free money, we want to be the first in line to take as much as we can!

They are great Americans!

I’d imagine every plaintiff and entity that’s about to be suing for or demanding refunds will be doing exactly that.

Everyone took PPP money who was eligible to do so. That’s not some slight. You’d have been a total moron not to take it.

You’ve described the overwhelming percentage of American businesses. Cheap trinkets or luxury goods or industrial machinery or otherwise.

I didn't take it. Probably could have but my business survived without it, and I figured there would be extra scrutiny of those who did take it. I didn't see the benefit outweighing the potential negatives. I took zero salary that year and made sure my staff was good.

Also, I am not a leech that goes running for free money just because but I guess that's where you and I differ, bum.

No one ran for PPP, the government gave it out. There was no negative. You just chose to give up a year of salary for no reason.

I don’t imagine there are many rational people in that camp with you

ETA: I don’t own my own business so I didn’t take anything from PPP. Sure as shite cashed the stimulus checks that went straight into education savings Accts though.

Yea say that to those facing extra audits

quote:

Key details regarding PPP audits:

Targeted Amounts: The SBA is conducting audits on all loans of $2 million or greater.

High-Risk Indicators: Businesses that took both a PPP loan and the Employee Retention Credit (ERC) are under increased scrutiny, as audits for these programs are frequently linked.

Focus Areas: Audits focus on eligibility (necessity), payroll documentation, and whether funds were used for authorized purposes.

Consequences: Audits can lead to loss of loan forgiveness, repayment demands, penalties, and criminal charges.

Timeframe: The SBA has up to six years to review loans.

No thank you!

To be fair, single member LLC so it's all my money whether I pay myself a salary or not. I just made a little less that year but I also took extra time off to repair my house after the hurricanes.

Congrats on being below the threshold to qualify. I never qualify

It wasn’t hard to use them for payroll and document as such.

I’m sure people who tried to cut corners, commit fraud, or stretch the money outside of their business are in fact uncomfortable being audited.
