Plus the Army uniforms are increasingly ridiculous looking. Every time they change they look more stupid. It is embarrassing.

Nah, I like the OCPs. Now the ACUs? Those were a shite show I'll agree. Love me some woodlands though.

I meant the dress unis.

Handy commentary:

This is God awful, and by 2014 it will be standard issue for all Army personnel (It replaces the Dress Greens):

I know the guy in the above photo has bloused pants because he's Airborne, but that garbage just doesn't look right. No way. I can't imagine wearing combat boots with any Dress Blue type uniform, even if it is becoming a Class A."

Not broken.

Do you understand remotely how dependent and retiree care have completely consumed DoD medicine?

Just stop.

Focus on what the purpose of military healthcare is, which is deployable forces. Don't go down this trail with me. You do not have nearly the expertise you think you have.

Who is going to to deploy when their family has no health care?

Just stop.

Hmmmm?

"Its mission is to provide health support for the full range of military operations and sustain the health of all who are entrusted to MHS care. ... The MHS also provides, where space is available, health care to dependents of active duty service members, to retirees and their dependents, and to some former spouses."

The same people who deployed before we gave free health care to everyone?

Yeah bro, we're saying we should revise that stupid mission statement.

In other words, what we have historically done when we were not out starting problems and actually tried to live within our means.
I think we're all being kind of funny/ironic, but yes, I'm being serious. I think GT23 is 90% right. Obviously there's some ickiness in the sausage actually being made, but I think it's strategically sound if executed and messaged correctly.

Did we really save any money deploying soldiers and airmen to Iraq and Afghanistan from Graf and Hohenfels and K-town instead of from Hood? And given the critical role Reservists played in the 21st century wars, is it really hard to believe that they couldn't spin up on a larger scale when needed? Managing reserve training, utilizing their allocated IDT and AT mandays, and activating and mobilizing Reservists to meet missions demands as they arise can be challenging, but it's not that challenging. And it can be much more efficient if done correctly (did a disassociated tour in Reserve requirements management for two years at my last assignment). I believe you mentioned being AGR once upon a time, so I know you know one hell of a lot more about that than I do.

And order will be restored in December.

This business of allowing, particularly junior enlisted, to move their families around the world with all expenses paid every few years is for the birds.

Allowing? I don't remember having a lot of choice in the matter.

Just to emphasize this point.

What, land the Marines and wait for reservists?

What could go wrong? That would be like the Marines landing on an island and the whole Navy withdrawing two days later. Which it did on the Guadalcanal op in 1942.

Reservists are never going to be able to take the lead in anything like that.

Military spending will never go down as long as AIPAC is as powerful as it is

Must expel dual Israeli-American citizens from government

Maintain freedom of the seas. Have the Marine Corps available to protect American interests abroad. Maintain a well prepared (but small) Army. Dramatically downsize and re-orient it towards readiness for the Reserve Component (ARNG and USAR).

No, it doesn't. We were having a rather good discussion on the pros/cons of downsizing our military footprint, ways to do it, etc. until you guys started up with the Israel bullshite. Keep that shite on your conspiracy theory posts.

for one support doing away with the active duty Army and Air Force and having a large powerful Navy while pulling out of NATO completely and telling Japan and Korea best of luck.

Should pull out the old Roman model and make essentially the active military more of the national guard.

I don't respond to your posts because they are stunningly devoid of substance or logic. And yet that never stops you from typing out your drivel. You literally cited your own post the other night. Seriously.

In other words, dumbassery.

Power and influence would be the reason.

Now, there is definitely an argument to be made whether it's worth it or not.
