Mancin is beloved by Republicans. He's a DINO/blue dog-ish Democrat from a blue collar state. DEMs pretty much everywhere else hate him.

You couldn't be more wrong. Have you listened to any of Manchin's ideology in interviews? The guy's exactly what most folks (especially women) are looking for....someone who projects level-headed, middle-of-the-road ideas!
Hell! I'm not saying that I'll vote for him, but a TON of people will!

Edit: Manchin would crush a debate with the other two!

You've basically made the argument that Trump, Manchin and Sowell are politically aligned.

Hilarious that you think this. What I’ve done is once again point out that democrats like Manchin - who you call a moderate - align with Trump almost universally.

Why would they vote for Trump when a democrat candidate like Manchin exists?

This is the way I see it. Those moderate Kemp and McCain voters that hate Trump would vote for Manchin instead of Biden. In states like Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, New Hampshire and Wisconsin it does not take many of the formally moderate Biden voters to flip to Biden and give Trump the EVs in those states. Those states were very close in 2020.

Go Manchin.

I've actually revised what I said earlier. We saw in 2022 they just wouldn't vote (gaps in downticket GOP v. Trump)

So, Mancin would get moderate Republicans who may vote for Trump, all the people who would not vote for either Trump/Biden, and no DEMs of substance.

Why? Democrats hate Mancin.

Rural "Democrats" vote for Trump, but would likely love them some Mancin.

The only people who love Mancin are Republicans and West Virginians

As a Trump hater and under your theory you should be loving a Manchin third party run. It ensures a Trump loss according to your calculus.

I would like to test the theory. I don't believe the theory is valid. IMO in the states I've previously mentioned the Brian Kemp and John McCain type voters (extreme moderates) will have a candidate of their own. My opinion is that Trump never had these votes and Biden would lose them. That opens the door for Trump in states were the 2020 election incremental was less than 100K.

joe Manchin is doing this so power Dems will not fund a candidate to try to primary him for his next Senatorial election

I think he's arguing we should be promoting an actual conservative and not Mancin-lite

Never heard of an extreme moderate. I thought by definition being moderate meant you were not extreme.

Manchin won’t win the primary so this is all a pointless exercise, but no moderate that voted Biden in 2020 is going to not vote him again in 2024. Neither will they stay home.

You fail to come to terms with the fact that many people voted against Trump and not necessarily in favor of the democrat.

That won’t change.

At best, your theory results in a wash and we get the same result as 2020.

But he did have them. He got these votes in 2016, and he has to have that population to win in 2024.

There will not be any 2016 type repeat with low voter turnout amongst certain Democratic groups that allows Trump to underperform the GOP at large.
