I wonder if they are not playing it just to avoid all of the kneeling controversy, or if they made this decision because they feel like the national anthem is a bad thing? Those are two very different reasons for not playing it.

The "tradition" was stupid anyway. It made sense when they started playing it during WW2. It is a game. Entertainment. We don't play the national anthem before we watch movies.
