It's been a slow slide until Reed took office.
It's a disturbing parallel of nearby Selma. The AA population in Selma literally screamed on street corners to get the last white mayor out of office. If you drive through Selma today, it's mostly beautiful old homes falling apart and abandoned buildings. Once, Selma was home to an air force base which was a major employer. Now, it looks like a third world city. Drive down southern boulevard in Montgomery and you're on the set of a post-apocalytic movie for most of it. Literally burnt husks of hotels set on fire by squatters, withered crack-addicted hookers shuffling back and forth to the truck stops, half naked kids popping wheelies on four runners in the middle of busy traffic. The shift in crime since Reed was elected has been incredible. His dad was a known, corrupt scumbag. Since taking office, Reed cut the police force, hired his cousin from New Orleans as police chief who was run out of town on the same sort of sexual charges he was under investigation for in New Orleans when he was hired. He continues to push the same leftist garbage about civilian oversight and community outreach. Of course, it's the gun's fault.
A couple of weeks ago, three people were mowed down in a robbery at a Mexican tienda. If the latin gangs decide to take up here, Montgomery will turn into a little Chicago. And nothing will change, because the black citizens back Reed 100% if for no other reason than he was the first black mayor.
I'd rather live in Alabama than 99% of this sheep-infested country, but Montgomery really is a sad story.

I’m white. I’m a minority in Montgomery, AL (85% percent black). I demand DEI. wtf has happened to the birth place of civil rights.
Move soon, this is what they vote for.

And yet nothing about this in the MSM. Is that because they didn’t use ARs or is it because they don’t fit the narrative?

Alabama is where I grew up. It is a lot like the rest of the country. Stay out of the big cities for safety and a better quality of life. I used to spend summers with my grandparents in Birmingham which has also deteriorated as a result of poor governance.
